  1. This is my hero thread! Seriously, this is more exciting than a birthday party! I can't stand walking through the smoke-wafting, cigarette-butt and gum decorated streets followed by a bus ride of cigarette/tar laden clothing drenched with perfume that's supposed to cover it but only makes it worse. These are my daily bêtes noires! My anathemas! The most nadiral times of my days! Continue on my heros! Let us march in our streets and declare war on cigarette butts and gum spatter!
  2. MCA, thank you for the sample. With the exception of the mixed-up social security number and the negative information appearing on the back of the front page, it appears the same. So, are you aware of anyone else receiving a letter indicating a mixed-up social security number or more specifically, MY ss# "associated with other accounts"?
  3. I received a report from Chex Systems. (I guess I requested this, I know I intended to request it, but I've forgotten actually doing it.) Anyway, the report came and contains the one item in there that I expected and intend to dispute, as it was based on two stolen debit card transactions. Now, what I didn't expect was a letter from Chex Systems acknowledging that they had made an error and associated my social security number with other accounts, which they assure has now been corrected. There is some statement that I can request more information about that, "if want". They provided no other explanation as to what the mix-up entailed. I'm not sure what this means. Identity theft? Legitimate error? Nor am I sure what the ramifications are. I'm also not certain that this is even accurate: they provided two letters, one with the "potential for a mix-up" followed the next day by "there was a mix-up, but we fixed it". Lastly, the pertinent information I was looking for was on the back of this letter. On the next page (front side), it appears that I have a perfectly clean Chex recored because of the way the pertinent information was placed on the back of the first page at the top. So, my question to you all is: Has anyone ever received a letter like this? Also, is it standard for Chex to print the "bad" record on the back page? Thanks, Cesca
  4. Okay, so I haven't received another email, but I called again . . .da dah - approved! They said they mailed my welcome package and check card two days ago. Cool. So, now for the next item on my agenda: does anyone have any comments about secured card through BofA?

    Target

I received a "pre-approval" from Target in the store, (I was also employed by them at the time), so I gave up my ID to accept the card and was denied! What?!
  6. You cannot have a judgment entered against you if you are not served. You are not going to wake up one day to a judgment sitting on your reports. At least that's not the way it's supposed to work--legally. I only say that because that actually happened to me. I was sued once in my life about 20 years ago. It was bogus. I only found out when my wages were garnished. I was never served, but they certified that I was. If I was served, I would have gone to court. If I had gone to court, I am sure a judgment would never have been entered, because the whole thing was a fraud--which is why I'm sure they made certain I wasn't served.
  7. Looks like a non-issue: They weren't able to serve you; The case was dismissed. So, the remaining question is: WHY is it on your credit report?!
  8. You might want to dispute if the information in the system is inaccurate. Accurate information is important. It's easier to correct inaccuracies as they arise rather than tackle inaccuracies that have piled up. Waiting to dispute inaccuracies after they pile up also causes one to look at the question begged and ask "Why are you disputing now, if you knew this info was wrong 5 months or 5 years ago, why didn't you dispute it then?" If all the information is accurate and you have no disagreement/issue with what is reporting, then I don't know why you would dispute.
  9. Oh, and the "over limit" amount on my credit card was $11.26, conveniently the over limit fee of $11.26! In other words, I wasn't over my limit. The only over limit amount was the $11.26 fee they tacked on. This is the kind of sh -- that makes me hate Wells Fargo!
  10. Nothing yet . . .except a hard pull on Experian --->Not happy about that.
  11. They did a HARD pull for my application! GRR. (So, far, Experian is reporting a hard. TU and EQ may be to follow.)
  12. Insignificant "upgrades" - really more of a pain-in-the-keester if you ask me. On my checking, I had an "opportunity" checking. There kind term for, "we think you'll can't handle this". (Explanation: when I opened my WF checking, my "adult" son, had a checking account $80 in the hole at a credit union. I was not on his account, but for some reason the credit union reported it against me. It wasn't worth a huge hassle to me when I opened my WF account, so I accepted their crappy checking account in order to get a credit card with them.) The "upgrade" consists of "free" on line banking, free checks, free money orders/cashier checks, and traveler's checks. I already had free on-line banking (which they say was a mistake), I don't write checks and haven't since 1999, so I don't give a hoot about free checks, and I don't use money orders, etc. So, I don't see much benefit except that my account is no longer referred to as an "opportunity" - pure account vanity is all I can figure for the "real" upgrade. They'd been charging $3.00 every month for my savings account - an account I didn't want, but they said was "required" if I had a credit account. They say the fee will not be assessed if I set-up an automatic transfer to savings every month. Downsides: Changing account numbers, re-doing auto-deposit paperwork, and any other automatic payments that are set up. I find it annoying. Also, I have to babysit my mailbox for a new debit card and a new box of checks (that I'll never use) in order to ensure that I receive them. This is also annoying to me, because I only check my mail about twice a year. Yep, that's right, twice a year. I hate mail and I do everything possible to avoid receiving it. So, unless I am expecting something, I don't bother with it. (I have a mail service, so they will call me if I actually have something to pick-up - I'm not an salamander (all the time). _ I had a "secured" visa with Wells Fargo. I called a few months ago because I wanted to increase the limit - I was planning on just paying an additional amount to do this. WF said that was fine, but first they wanted to "unsecure" it, and then after I received my new card (more mailbox-sitting) I should call back for a CLI. Frustrating, but fine, I did as they said. Then I was denied the CLI. You can only have "one" credit card with WF. Additionally, they were to transfer all debits/credits to my new card, but they didn't do that smoothly or effectively. They transferred some, then a few more, and finally closed the account. I've had a "credit" (due me) on the old account since June 21. They keep telling me they'll transfer that. Meanwhile, on my new account, they claim I went over my credit limit (of course I was charged that and it was reported to the CRA's) but, if they had transferred "all" of my account activity, it would not have been over limit. Irritating. (BTW, I always pay my account to zero every month "before" the due date. I have also learned to make my payments on-line, because then they'll credit the payment between 3 and 7 days after I make the payment on-line. I've learned that if I make a cash payment in person, it gets credited two weeks after I make the payment - they actually reported an early cash payment as "late". So, I never pay in person now.) The people on the phone in the credit department are salamanders. They've made other mistakes on my account and have been salamanders about it when I call to have them fix it. _ So, I hate Wells Fargo, but because I have a credit account with them and I'm trying to build credit, I put up with the BS, I just try very hard to minimize the opportunity for their crap.
  13. They have been "upgrading" my accounts (which is actually a pain in the keester) along with refunding "fees" for "customer relations". Now, in my opinion, they shouldn't have charged any fees, but the point is they seem fairly agreeable to refunding them when asked. Cesca
