  1. Bill from MRS has been calling sporadically for my dh for awhile. At first the caller ID was showing MN Chipewea Tribe, and I posted on here because I had no idea who it was and Bill wouldn't say. Then he called today and the caller ID said MRS, but was the same #. I looked at an old credit report of my husbands, and realized it was MRS, and checked my computer and realized I dv'd them last summer and included a limited c&d. They of course never responded and are still reporting/calling. I just pulled my dh's cr today to check. So now what? I did CMRRR the first one, but when I looked up the # at the USPS site it says nothing, so I have no idea what happened. I also don't think I ever got the RR back, but that's happened with others and the # showed up in tracking at least. Maybe it's just too old?? Anyway, I now have no way to prove it. This guy is really rude and evasive. So I guess I now send another DV, hope the po gets it back to me, and get my recorder ready? Does this sound right? I guess the main problem with the recorder is that there is never anyone there when they call and I answer - it's dead silence, a few beeps, and then hangs up. I always get frustrated and call the # back to see what the want, and Bill answers. So maybe he is just trying to harass us. So technically I wouldn't be recording a call they made to us. Any tips? I hate Bill.
  2. Bill from the MN Chippewa Tr (on caller Id) phone # 218-547-6029 called for my husband, but refused to give any information. Does anyone know who this is or how I can find a mailing address? I called him back, he answered, and again refused to give company info. I tried reverse lookup, google, and searches on here, and still nothing. I would like to send a c & d because he keeps calling, has never sent any mail, and will only talk to my dh, who is usually not here and wouldn't talk to him anyway. TIA
  3. If your defaulted SL is not on your CR, I'm assuming it's pretty old. I had a really old defaulted SL too, and it didn't show on my credit report until I started rehabing it. I don't know if the mortgage lender would check somewhere else for the default, but I would think if it's not on your credit report, then it would be fine with those scores to apply for a mortgage. But if you really want to rehab it, it will show on your credit report. You would then need to wait awhile for it to age and start showing good standing, and it will probably drop your score initially. But if you don't want to worry about wage and tax return garnishment, you should get this taken care of now. It won't ever really go away. Just because it's not on your CR now, and they may not be aggressively going after you, you never know when they could decide to get more aggressive. eta: whoops, just noticed you said you've started paying on it. I think it's going to eventually start showing on your credit report then, they just haven't gotten around to it yet. So either get your preapproval now before it shows up, or plan to wait until you've gotten it out of default with about 12 months of good payment history.
  4. I found one point interesting in a frustrating way: Your children don't qualify. Parents are eligible for an additional $300 for each dependent child. But the payment is available only for dependent children who were age 16 or under on Dec. 31, 2007. So it doesn't cost anything to raise a 17 yr old? Where is that thinking coming from? Not to mention the costs of sending a child through college who's 18+. ( I know some kids support themselves & put themselves through college, but there are many who don't). Our kids are still younger, but this makes me mad anyway. I could understand 17 or younger, but why 16 or younger?
  5. What happened to the original $1200 in sales that you were supposed to have received? That's a lot of merchandise to ship without ever actually getting payment. Did this company ever finally forward you the payments after their 'fraud dept.' went over it, or did all those customers end up doing chargebacks too?
  6. Very weird. I have been checking the where's my stimulus thing like crazy, always using dh's ss# because he is first on the return. Kept getting the 'sorry' message. His SS # ends in 95. Decided to try mine, and it showed up saying it will be deposited on the 16th. So if you are still getting the error and filed joint, try the other ss#.

    Crap1

We have a Crap1 CO that was scheduled to stop reporting in May/June of this year according to the cra's. TU was the only one that said May, but EX & EQ say June. I disputed the account as obsolete on TU and they deleted a little early, but EX & EQ kept it. I see that Crap1 just reported again on April 30th. I am just wondering if they finally do stop reporting on their own when it says they will, or if I will end up having to pull reports in July (I just cancelled TC) to make sure and end up disputing them again. From all the posts on here, they seem to be very hard to get rid of. This is the last big thing I need of our reports.
  8. I've had it work for authorizations on other things online. For example - when I signed up for the free trial with one of the credit monitoring services. It did a $1 charge that eventually just expired. But I have also had trouble at gas stations - can't use it at the pump, and have occaisonaly had declines inside too. Which kind of stinks. I just don't really trust this card, and most of the time it works. I DO like the 1.5% cashback, but I don't like looking stupid with a declined card, even though I know it should work. It happens very rarely, but just enough to worry me. And sometimes it will work if you just keep trying - once it took 3 tries.
  9. You CAN (or at least you should be able to) withdraw money from an ATM using your pp debit card. I've done it several times. I believe you have to choose 'checking' in order for it to work, not credit card. There is a small fee to do it though. And as long as there is money in the acct, I do not understand why it won't work to use anywhere. I was told to always choose 'credit', not debit when using it. I get 1.5% cashback that way, and I also have backup funding set up so it can pull money out of my bank if there is not enough. But like a pp said, sometimes it acts screwy and gets declined. When I called about it, they just said it's a 'security measure'. Uh, ok. Makes no sense to me. So I often won't use it unless I'm not worried about being embarrassed by a decline and have another way to pay.
  10. Yep, I have the same problem. And it's with a Cap1 CO too. Luckily, the darn thing is supposed to fall off soon, so I hope that will help the score. I don't think it's fair to count CO's in utilization.
  11. Yeah, I knew that, but I just wondered why they felt the need to add that sentence at the end. Do you think it was to scare me into thinking it would report for another 7 yrs? Even though I know it's illegal to re-age, I'd prefer to not have to fight that battle if possible, especially since this is supposed to fall off soon.
  12. Hmm... I disputed a very old Fingerhut account that has been handled by RJM Aquisitions on dh's credit report. TU deleted. Haven't heard from EX yet. But today we recieved a letter from RJM. They said: "RJM has received a Consumer Dispute Verification (CDV) inquiry from EXPERIAN in which you questioned some aspect of our reporting of the above referenced account. Accordingly, after a thorough investigation, we have responded to EXPERIAN. ........ (more meaningless junk here and then) *When RJM reported this account, EXPERIAN told us that we must use March 29, 2005 (the date RJM purchased this account) as the opening date rather than the original opening date of July 22, 1999." Right on this letter it says Last Payment Date: Sept 26, 2001 And on dh's last EX, it says it was scheduled to remain until Aug 2008. Does this sound like they are trying to pull some reaging crap. BTW - I have my standard DV letter ready to go CMRRR, but should I add anything into it regarding this a bogus attempt at reaging?
  13. Is this a Neg account? They fall off after 7 yrs, but positive accounts can stay on for longer. Why do you want this gone?
  14. I hate 1st Premier. I wish I had known better when I got them Orchard is much better. No monthly fee, and you can pay online for free. The annual fee is more, but right now that is worth if for us. Several years ago, dh lost his job and we couldn't pay the FP card. It went to CO, and they sent it to some CA. I dv'd the CA, and FP sent me back something saying they didn't have to abide by the FDCPA. Duh! I didn't sent it to them. So I replied offering a PFD. They sent me back the same letter as the first time, but this time they forgot to change any of their blank template info. So it said - to Cardholder, Address, Account # etc. It had absolutely no personal information relating to me. What a bunch of salamanders. If they won't give you a cli after this long, they aren't worth it.
  15. These people keep calling for 'Mike'. We don't know any dang Mike, nor has one ever lived here. They hang up on me when I say they have the wrong number, but call back the next day. I have enough to deal with our own bills, we finally stopped all of our own collections. I want this to stop. This is actually the 4th person we've received calls for, but the other stopped, 2 easily, and one after I sent a letter. But I have no idea who this is. They hang up on me, they haven't mailed anything, and I get nothing other than the Buffalo, WV info in a reverse lookup. They also don't answer this number. I've tried several times. I wish they would, I would love to start harassing them until they take my number off.
