  1. Hey. I am so sorry that I did not respond to your questions, but I do not read the boards everyday. Yes, I got the amount that I asked for and my credit score was 630. Did everything end up being okay for you?
  2. I have used the Sallie Mae Tuition Answer student loan for two semesters now. I found it to be extremely easy. I applied online and checked back in about two hours and was approved. I then had to fax them certain documents such as school status letter and received my check within the next week. Hopefully, it will go as smoothly for you!
  3. Hi. My husband is trying to refinance our house so that we can consolidate our cc debt. He filed bankruptcy and it was discharged in March 2003. The lender he spoke with said that everything looks good but that the underwriter wants a letter explaining why he filed bankruptcy and what he has done to make sure that does not happen again. He should also explain how this loan will help him. He also is a co-signer on my student loans so they need a letter showing that the loans are in deferment. We are wondering if we supply these things if we are basically approved. What do you all think? His scores are 568, 585, and 620. We owe 89,000 on the house and are trying to cash out 20,000 to pay all of our cc. We estimate our home value to be about 120,000. All she told him was that with a cash out refinance that he would get $6,000 in cash after all of the cc are paid off. These numbers aren't adding up for me, but we don't know what value they are using for the refinance amount. This is also a FHA refinance if that helps. What should we expect the fee to be approximately? I know this is a lot of questions, but we need help. Thanks so much!
  4. Well, the 8.9% quote was offered without any money down. I ended up putting $2,000 down and he said it moved me to tier 1 so I now qualified for 2.9% (their current special on new cars). Wow... They were trying to get an extra 6 points off you?
  5. Thanks for everyone's replies. I came home with my new 2007 Ford Fusion SEL V6 and I LOVE it!! I did end up getting the 2.9% financing after negotiating back and forth a bit. They were offering 8.9% at first. It was actually a very nice experience all together.
  6. I went to the dealership yesterday and picked out my new car. I had blank check financing, but the finance person said we could probably get approved Ford and hopefully get the 2.9% financing. It was already after hours, but he submitted our app and said he'd know this morning but he thought everything was okay since my score was 619. My question is, do you think that score is good enough for the special financing? The salesman just called and said we were approved, but that he didn't know the rate or anything....just that it was better than our other deal. What do you guys think?
  7. The accounts are in good standing. The mortgage and home equity line of credit are both paid off. The credit card is at approximately 65% utilization. The age on these accounts are from 2004 and 2006. We really want them off just because they are not his. This did affect us in 2004 when we were attempting to get a heloc....we were denied due to already having one. That was the first time we had to work to get this all corrected. It's weird because it was these exact accounts then. I am going to try disputing it with the CRA and see what happens. I called the mortgage company and they are putting in a request to correct it, but said it could take up to 60 days.
  8. My husband is a junior and some of his father's accounts are showing up on his EQ report. The accounts are a mortgage, heloc, and a credit card. This happened a few years ago and it was a pain to get corrected. Should I just do a dispute through Equifax and see if they indeed take these accounts off. We tried this last time, and they came back as remains. Any ideas?
  9. No, their client is Nationwide Collections, Inc. I don't even know what city or state they are in. The lawyer is in Orangeburg, NY and I am in GA.
  10. I thought this too, but where do I find the address for the collection agency? Do you think I can find it if I just google it?
  11. Hi everyone. My husband received a letter from a lawyer that is representing a collection agency today. The letter says that he has 35 days to pay the settlement offer before they recommend their client of their legal rights to pursue this matter. It is for a Columbia House account and the amount is $94.18. The thing is we haven't had an account with them in close to four years. When we did, we paid it in full....we only got like five movies from them. This account is not on any of his reports and in the letter it says he either had a Columbia House DVD Club or Music Club account. He called the attorney before he told me about the letter and they said all they can do is mark it in dispute and let their client know that he disputed the charges. Does he need to send a dv to the attorney's office or to the collection agency. We don't have an address for the collection agency and on the back of the letter from the attorney it has the statement about verifying the debt. Please let me know what he should do. Thanks!!
  12. Thanks for your help. I will wait a while on getting a new car, we currently have two cars, but I saw this one and liked it. As for the income, it is horrible....I work for a school system as a parapro. I am finishing up my degree to become a teacher though, so we'll probably try again around that time.
  13. Thanks, that's what I figured, but thought I would ask before allowing credit to be pulled. Does the decline mainly have to do with my low income?
  14. Hi. I have looked at the carfax report for a vehicle that I am interested in. It states that the vehicle was registered as a lease vehicle and then as a commercial vehicle. What is a commercial lease vehicle? I looked online and saw that means it was used by a business or sometimes any lease vehicle is registered that way since it is owned by a company? Is that true? Also, it states car was sold at auction as a fleet vehicle. My husband says to stay clear, what do you think?
  15. Just wanted to let anyone that was interested know that I applied for the Sallie Mae Tuition Answer loan and the BOA Education Maximizer loans. I was approved for $10,000 with Sallie Mae and denied at BOA.
