  1. They said a letter would be received shortly, yes. I faxed over a recon already nonetheless...
  2. Hello, So I was logging in today to update balances on my budgeting/expenses spreadsheet and saw my PenFed Visa GOLD was fine. But.. I saw that my Pentagon Federal Cash Rewards card showed CLOSED. I assumed this was like they had done before, showed closed because I bought a large amount of food for a company BBQ so they figured it was stolen or something. At that time I called them and they did the where do you live, birthdate, ssn etc etc and it was opened instantly. Now they're telling me its because of something on credit report? It hasn't changed for worse in the past year or so... I have a single late payment in mid 2007. And a couple of lates from 2003 on a co-signed loan that I didn't primarily own. I asked if theres any recon method and they gave me a fax # I can send a letter and plead my case to. This is BS.. I'm pretty angry right now . Anyone else had this happen with PenFed? I know AMEX does this .... but no my PenFed :| Sigh.
  3. Merchants can ask for ID by law in California. That explains why Im always asked to show ID! Ive read around on the VISA/MC policies page... mentioned I dont see the problem and got flamed. I stay away from that clique. The relevant statute in California, permitting merchants to ask for identification, is California Civil Code § 1747.08. Part ( d ) is the where you'll find the right language. Seems that statute says it doesn't PROHIBIT the merchant from requiring acceptable identification. VISA does have their policy where the merchant cannot refuse a purchase if you do not provide ID, though. So, with regards to accepting a VISA credit card, the merchant cannot require identification without being in violation of their Visa Merchant Agreement. So: It's not against the law to require. But its against VISA's policy. -- "When should you ask a cardholder for an official government ID? Although Visa rules do not preclude merchants from asking for cardholder ID, merchants cannot make an ID a condition of acceptance. Therefore, merchants cannot refuse to complete a purchase transaction because a cardholder refuses to provide ID. Visa believes merchants should not ask for ID as part of their regular card acceptance procedures. Laws in several states also make it illegal for merchants to write a cardholder’s personal information, such as an address or phone number, on a sales receipt."(Rules for Visa Merchants, p.29) --
  4. $21.69 my first month of having the card . This is my first rewards card, I like it
  5. $49 in my Honda Accord.. and this was 2 weeks ago! . Although it did prove its worthiness @ 30mpg
  6. Thanks for the info, guys. I got the Visa gold but missed the 5% back on gas, etc. Want to go for their rewards card. Joined them last month. Oh, did you all apply for the 2nd and later products on the phone or online? Thanks. Online for all of them, but I called in to the CSR to check on the status. I've funded my checking account by using my Visa Check card # and using my banks address where I send car payments to.. it worked. I'm not sure if that is the correct way to go about it, though .
  7. PenFed also used the same Equifax report pulled on 4/2/2008 for: 4/2 Platinum Rewards 4/3 Auto Loan 5/3 Visa Gold
  8. I would absolutely do the transfer if I were in your shoes. 2.9% vs 11.9% is a no brainer especially at $8K. The $8K loan will cost you $80 for the 1% fee, but thats it. As long as you don't default you'll have that 2.9% for the life of the balance . I did a $9K transfer just this morning on my PenFed Gold card.
  9. Received mine, 46
  10. Come on..... FRIDAY! haha. 4/9/08 is my Stimulation date.
  11. PenFed denial today . Approvals in the past 3 weeks were a $5,000 Visa Platinum Rewards then a $10,000 Visa Gold. I tried my luck with a Credit Limit Increase on the Rewards to match the Gold's $10,000 and got a Pyramiding Debt message. Also says I need to establish a satisfactory repayment history before applying again. . Sounds reasonable :
  12. Log onto PenFed's website and go to the Manage your account tab. Go down to Check Loan Applications and you will see the status of your application. Pending, Approved, Rejected, Disbursed, etc. Click on the View Comments radio button and then Continue Application if you want to see the notes, if any. Rgrds
  13. I would suggest PenFed. I've been with them only a month and they're great so far. Great customer service!
  14. Been here quite a while..... mostly lurking but still! LOL Registered in 2006 Please fix
