  1. GEORGE and anyone tended to be classic creditboards " get the popcorn and watch the fireworks" posting exchanges.... ahh the good ol' days... does it count if you were at $1 mill plus but then just closed some here and there to churn some of them for free points? That's kinda what happened to me - also when CD rates went into the tank and it was pointless to use 0% balance transfers and stick that money into CD's I just closed anything that had an annual fee, most of them were relatively new accounts ( 1-5 years ) and my oldest is 28+ years old, so it didn't really hurt me - if nothing else I can say I was a member of the UPS cartel.....
  2. I also learned alot from MarkLa, George ( when he would take his meds ), Trevor, Hege and a few others - I was bouncing back from a Chp7 and they helped alot fo people including me get from nothing to something in a hurry........ I built a thick file from all the advice and when savings interest rates were much higher I made and extra $5k a year playing the 0% balance transfers...man that was a fun time.... now I just troll the threads occasionally.... this board is still a great resource for all things credit....
  3. I dont put cash into depreciating assets such as vehicles.... I treat them as expense and I like spreading that expense out over its useful life. I also dont buy new vehicles so that I can avoid 1st and 2nd year depreciation on them.... I look for cars 2 years or older with low miles - bought right you can have a vehicle which the loan value tracks the value of the vehicle pretty closely..... not a foolproof method but it works for me....
  4. As a data point my diners elite came due for renewal - they charged me the annual fee but then reversed it and I still have the elite card benefits, etc. Not sure if anyone else got this but thought it was interesting.... its also my highest limit at $40K but does not report.
  5. applied last nite - called today - approved for $40K - TU 784 - no inq on it - AAOA 6 years - oldest t/l is Amex at 27 years. HHI $180K - Thanks to the OP for posting on this - I like the primary CDW and the conversion on the club reward points to SPG -
  6. denied for excessive trades.....fico tu 766...
  7. Whats your FICO, Mr. or Ms. 1%?? I checked in September and it was around 770 to 790 on all three, just check AMEX creditsecure and they pulled Transunion BRCLYSBANKDE Banks and S&Ls 12/2/2008. I only have three open credit cards (i have 8 closed on my report). I personally do not like to keep cards open that I don't use. Did you get an instant answer or not when you applied? TIA....
  8. My opinion is that if a certain post is without value, not replying to it is the quickest way to make it fall off to page 2. You are every bit as entitled to post your opinion as George or any other member- and we'll defend your doing so whether your opinion is a popular one or not, within the confines of our TOS. The problem is when it crosses the line into a personal attack. That is a rule we've had since day one. If you feel another member is attacking you personally we will not allow that either, no matter who it is. well, all I can say is that when ever George starts feeling the heat from other folks expressing their opinions about his numerous posts on the SAME subject , he goes off into "I'M GONNA POST IN RED CAPITAL LETTERS ---- BUH BYE " nonsense which to me is a threat of sorts and is asking for everyone to pile on.....that coupled with the fact that he is the one bringing the subject up continually in the credit forum, when in fact it appears to me that perhaps it is not the correct place to do so......he is getting what he asks for and in a sick sort of way, probably wants and enjoys.......I have never tried to start a personal attack, but when I see that bold red writing, that to me is a personal attack from him and will draw a negative response from me and probably anyone else he does it to.....and when I see him posting about the same subject over and over again, I can't help but jump on him about it.....if nothing else that type of a post needs to go to the general forum as it does not contribute to the credit forum whatsoever.....but this is your board and your rules.......and your call to make..... I do appreciate this board and know that it helps alot of folks......me included......kind regards to the mods and owners.....I mean no disrepect to any of you........
  9. "waste of space" is something that the owners of this board will determine. We pay for the servers, hosting and bandwidth. There is no prohibition in the TOS against posting a topic that's been beaten to death. "Nothing happens to good old George" because George isn't breaking the rules by posting his opinions. There IS a prohibition on making personal attacks against other members and using masked (*&^) profanity. Those are TOS violations. This business of several members piling on every time another member posts something they don't like is ridiculous. This time it's someone you don't care for being piled upon. Next time it may be someone you do like- or perhaps you. We do our best to enforce the rules uniformly and see that each member is treated in a manner consistent with our TOS no matter who it is, who likes them and their opinions and who does not. your board, your rules.......I stated my opinion just as George did....I apologize for the TOS violation, but I do have to call "bs" when I see it especially when it is the same message from the same person over and over again when it does nothing to help anyone and then when it is pointed out to him, he starts in with the BIG RED LETTERS in a threating manner ( cyber bulling if you will, which is probably a TOS violation ) if nothing else should these types of messages be directed to the general forum where random opinions and goings ons are the norm? why is he allowed to "dump" in the credit forum where people are looking for help, not his dribble about his bad experience ( well documented by him previously in the same forum ) with AMEX ......back to the shadows.......
  10. while I appreciate that you are one of the folks in charge, I find it a touch ironic that you point out my pointing out George's numerous wastes of space.....it is funny to me that seemingly nothing happens to good ol' George, even when he starts these threads that beat a dead subject over and over again, yet we are all in trouble for pointing that out. I will go back to the shadows again.......
  11. since this is yet another useless thread in which George has decided to start another heaping pile of bull****....I thiink eveyone should check in !
  12. since I just recently reduced my available credit by a bunch i can report that my fico score dropped 22 points after all my account closures posted and my available credit dropped by $500K+/-........
  13. the original post was by TEE about Tee's situation with AMEX ... NOT GEORGE's ....but more than half of the posts involve George on a subject that has been beaten to death by him......why is that allowed to go on? and what does it have to do with the original post? and what constructive advice or words of empathy did George share? None that I could detect...again he thread crapped about his poor ol' Amex CLD......and offered nothing of value to the discussion......and then 10-15 of us jump on his stupid logic, and we wind up off topic discussing how dumb this all is...... My apologies to TEE....I will go back into the shadows......
  14. agree with Big Bear, but why do mods let him keep bringing this into every thread ? if George is in a thread long enough, we get to hear about the "Amex crapped on me" story.....enough already....... and since George obviously doesn't have a life, he posts in every thread - LOL -
