  1. Oh dear god. :-( W.T.F. I honest to god though I had several more years. I need to move.
  2. But it definitely hasn't been 17 years since the last invasion? I just googled last week wondering when I need to hide out in my home. It was HORRIBLE. I know it hasn't been 17 years, because my son is only 9...I wasn't even pregnant with him. I think it's been 10 years.
  3. I'm an Apple whore. I hated Apple, until I got an IPhone. Then? My husband bought me a MacBook Air for Christmas. I also drive a Toyota Highlander. I drink the kool-aid, and it's quite yummy with vodka.
  4. I used a member here! He was amazing, but I think he's since moved on to a different field. He was out of state, and everything was done via fax or over the phone. I do know this forum still has an active VA rep posting, maybe PM him and ask for ideas? I can't remember his username off the top of my head, but it's obvious in his siggy that he specializes in VA loans.
  5. We have spoken with attorney regarding the Allstate settlement. Basically, we have two years--and we intend to wait that long if need be. Definitely not accepting the initial $2000 they offered. Do we also need a lawyer to expedite this Geico/Penfed fiasco? Our rental is UP on the 12th, according to our policy limits. Geico won't budge on that, even though they've claimed the hold up is in direct relation to them being short stuffed from Hurricane Sandy. Finally, we've never totaled a car. What IS a reasonable time frame for Geico to pay our lien holder? It's been 24 days, and now we are told they will continue to 'investigate' the issue on Monday. The issue is NOT with us, it's between Penfed and Geico.
  6. Still dealing with this. Not happy with Penfed. They've sent over the wrong form 4 times now to Geico, Geco can't release payment until they have the correct form. Something about proving to Geico we own the car, and that penfed holds the title. Multiple conference calls with Geico and Penfed. Our rental is up on the 12th. This will more than likely drag on beyond that. I'm LIVID, and disappointed in Penfed. Also, Allstate with the $2000 settlement offer? $1000 medical and $1000 pain and suffering? Basically told them to go eff themselves. We've put HOURS into this mess, it's screwed with my husbands work schedule, and $1000 pain and suffering isn't cutting it. Nope. Not to mention, we might have to pay for extension of rental out of our pocket. Allstate will be covering that, even if I have to get an attorney involved. 3 weeks and 2 days since the car was totaled.
  7. I did the VA IRRL a few months ago with no appraisal. Aside from being lengthy, it was an easy process. Went from 5.875% down to 3.75%, saving us almost $700 monthly. Wells Fargo holds our loan, and I went directly through them. Search my topics in the mortgage forum for more details, I know I started one main thread asking questions.
  8. Geico is waving our deductible. Payout is $35 more than we owe, so looks like we won't have to initiate gap. Does anyone know if we can get a refund on Gap? We've only made 4 car payments...
  9. Apparently, our adjuster was able to evaluate the car today, instead of later this week as she mentioned. Anyway, at least $18,000 in damage. It'll be totaled, once she goes approval from her supervisor. Hoping to have the loan paid off by end of this week, and hoping the value is fair since it was only 4 months old with 7500 miles on it. If not, we have GAP. Then...applying for new car loan from Penfed, hoping for the same 1.9%--and shopping for a new Prius. Also, Husband called Allstate, let them know we would not be accepting the $2000. Asked to have check mailed with waiver, and said we would make copies of the waiver--send both back UNsigned certified mail/return receipt with a letter explaining why we aren't settling yet. (Definitely not settling until all medical bills come in)
  10. Calling adjuster in the morning, but are we allowed to be present during the assessment?
  11. Geico adjuster just called, claims she won't be able to even look at the car until Thursday of next week. O.o. That will put us at 7 days into approximately 33 days of a rental. I can't even see straight right now. She kept saying crap about repairs, etc--and how Prius holds value, doubt it'll be totaled, etc. The car had less than 8000 miles on it. In May mind? It's totaled. Buckled roof, battery whining after impact, destroyed a d obliterated back, doors not opening, and driver seat broken. I'm going to FLIP if they don't total it. She went on to say that we have no recourse? The value they place on repairs is the only one they will use?
  12. We did file the claim with our insurance (Geico), and they said they will surrogate with Allstate for reimbursement. Geico just now, almost 48 hours later, assigned an adjuster. However, now we are going into the weekend---and still have not heard from the adjuster. From what we can tell, geico hasn't even looked at our car. They were more concerned about moving it from storage facility A to a cheaper geico approved mechanic shop. Allstate called this morning to get my husbands statement, the settlement money (medical and suffering) was offered at the end of the phone call, and a total shock to us. I'm angry over the entire thing. :-/ I feel like we should have at least had an adjuster look at our car by now, right? Or at least schedule a time to examine it?
  13. Geico. They contacted us today, requesting to move the vehicle, "due to the high fees the wrecker yard would charge." We agreed to have it moved to a local Geico approves body shop. Still haven't heard a peep from the adjuster, and it's been almost 48 hours. According to geico, they are "short staffed". In the mean time, we only have 33 days on this rental car.
  14. My husband was rear-ended Wednesday night, fairly bad accident. He was sitting at a red light, with several cars in front of him. Noticed a Ford Explorer coming up fast behind, and was impacted with an estimated speed of 35mph--minimum. The impact threw my husbands car way off to the right (wasn't even visible from the accident scene), and the Explorer went on to hit the car in front of my husband--which caused a chain reaction. Including the Explorer, total of 5 vehicles involved in the accident. -Explorer was driven by a teenager, still on his parents policy. (Allstate) Driver of the Explorer was ticketed at the scene, and it's presumed he was texting. He did not admit this, but admitted to never once hitting his breaks, didn't know anything was wrong until the moment of impact, and estimated his speed to be 35mph at impact. -We went through our insurance, to get the ball rolling faster, and I believe the terminology used was that our insurance would 'subrogate' for reimubursement. Husband checked out at ER, everything is ok. It *appears* to us, that the car is totaled. 2012 Prius, less than 8K miles. Rear is practically obliterated, Driver seat broken practically in half, can't open rear passenger door at all, and minor buckling on roof. Car is financed through Penfed, and we have GAP insurance through Penfed. Couple of questions: Allstaate called this morning and took a statement from my husband. Offered around $2000, some for the ER visit and other for 'pain and suffering'. Claims that even though we sign a waiver, if any injury pops up it will still be covered. Am I correct for being suspicious of this? IF the car is NOT totaled...do we have recourse to fight that decision? With the amount of visible damage, I just don't see how it can ever be made 'right', considering we were only 4 months into a 5 year loan, had less than 8K miles on it, and had planned to put a minimum of 100K miles on it. :-/ How difficult would it be to fight something like this? Finally, what is the usual time-frame for resolution? We suspect we will obviously have to buy a new car, but we haven't even *heard* from our adjuster yet. I called our insurance this morning, who stated it's 'not unusual' to have not heard anything yet, not even an appt for the adjuster to examine the car---and in the interim we have approximately 33 days with the rental car. If it's totalled, the lein holder would have to be paid off, we may or may not have to start the GAP process with Penfed, then we would need to apply for new loan. Should I be concerned about only having approximately 33 days in the rental? Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any responses.
  15. I just had to figure this out, what a PITA. Go to the 'Bill Pay' tab. Look for the 'Pay to/Pay from' tab....from there, it's automatically set to open to the 'Pay to' section. Click the tab that says 'Pay from'. You will then see the external FI you linked, with a link to the right that says, ''Edit/View/Delete/Verify"---hit the 'Verify' link, and it'll take you to a screen to add the amounts of the small deposits. SUCH A PITA.
