How much will adding spouse as AU help his score?
lilyflower replied to lilyflower's topic in Credit Forum
Most of his cards are I believe around 50% due to credit line decreases and the like. Thanks, my ultimate goal is to get both of our outstanding debt paid off. I don't have a lot left so I was going to use my credit score to eventually help him but that's going to take me a few months and some strategic manuevering on my part to not tank anything of mine and screw us both -
Hi all, I've successfully rebuilt myself to a high 700s score and 11% utilization with less to be reported soon. I have no negatives and no individual card with more than a 20% balance as I pay off my remaining debt. I have an AAoA of 8+ years. My spouse has a clean report but high utilization that is tanking his score (no negatives JUST utilization). How much will it help to have him as an AU on my accounts? I'm trying to help raise his score and we'll be tackling his debt using my credit as soon as I'm PIF

I don't owe anything to Sync. I PIF each month. I'm only keeping them for additional lines and age

Also, generally don't put all your eggs (proverbially at least) in one creditor's basket - Comenity started closing and discontinuing cards for me (and I'm talking Visas and MCs) around the pandemic. I also had identity fraud on several of their store cards in 2019. I'm not surprised to hear that Synchrony might do the same to people.

I haven't had any issues with Sync so far but they're definitely not going above $20K limits right now.

I should state WHY I closed my store cards - all of my comenity cards and my Kohl's card were compromised due to identity theft and fraudulent purchases in 2019. Someone had found my info and used these cards out of state to run up a huge amount of merchandise. While Comenity did remove the fraud charges, I didn't feel these accounts were secure enough to prevent the risk of this happening again and the limits on these were pretty low compared to the $40K limits I had on bank cards. A few of the cards I had folded as you'll see up thread so I had to open more a few years back. ETA: My AAoA is over 8 years. So I've been very strategic with adding new cards - ones I actually wanted or had a use for in some way. The Verizon Visa is literally used to pay my cell phone bill - that's it. -

OMG, its been forever since I posted here - I did indeed break through my most recent score was a 788 EX which got me approved for Wells Fargo Active Cash Card with a $20K starting limit. I also got married just before the pandemic so my focus has now shifted to fixing hubby's credit I saw some limit cuts during/after the pandemic but have mostly worked back - I'm at 11% utilization which is set to drop when some payments and credit line increases report. I've closed every store card I have except for the Sync / Amazon Store Card - that's sitting at a $15K limit which sync keeps telling me is the max. I also have: Fidelity 2% Visa - $20K limit Wells Fargo Active Cash - $20K limit WF Autograph - $5K limit (this started as a secured card and is now an old active tradeline) Citi Costco - $23K limit Citi Double Cash - $25,460 limit CIti Diamond Preferred - $3K limit Discover IT -$31.3 limit Chase Freedom Unlimited - $2500 (they cut me to $500 during the pandemic and I was FINALLY able to get them to start raising me agian) Chase United Explorer - $3600 (Chase was having fun cutting my limits - I just got them to start raising me again) Chase Marriott Bonvoy - $4100 Apple Card - $5250 Amex Gold - no set limit Amex Blue Cash - $12.6K (also got a cut during the pandemic) Amex Hilton - $12.4K Amex EDP - $10K (somehow I got approved for this without them pulling a hard but they won't give me further CLIs without me issuing bank statements which I don't want to do) DCU Visa - $10K Verizon Visa / Sync - $20K Ebay Mastercard /Sync - $20K Cap 1 QS - $10.5 k (They cut me from $40K during the pandemic and just started giving me minimal CLIs again) BoA Cash Rewards - $7500 (Cut me during the pandemic but finally gave a CLI recently) BoA Royal Caribbean - $16.7K Venmo Visa - $20K PayPal MC - $20K Amazon Store (Synch) - $15K So doing pretty well all things considered except the now EQ has split my file and it's not reporting so I'm in the process of arguing with them. Most of my lines are now old so I have a great AAoA -
Long time no see CB folks. In the past few years, I've done well for myself and weathered the pandemic and come out the other side. My most recent credit score is a 788 EX which was pulled when WF approved me for an active cash card with a $20K limit!!! Things are great... except EQ somehow split or deleted part of my file in the fall and I JUST found out about it. I have a spotless credit record (no lates, no collections and very few INQs as I've mostly been gardening.) I found out when I tried to get an increase on my DCU Visa and DCU couldn't find my credit report. (It was unfrozen at the time). I logged into their horrible MyEquifax system and got that I have ZERO accounts and somehow a 680 credit score but when I went into dispute I saw about HALF my current accounts available none having been updated since March/April. I've called/written/disputed with EQ multiple times and even raised complaints with the CFPB with screenshots when the offshore team REFUSED to investigate. Has anyone had any luck getting a split file with EQ fixed recently or have any other contacts I can try? As I mentioned, my credit is excellent at the moment but I was hoping to get a loan from DCU in my name using my credit to consolidate my husband's debt to help raise his score and clear out a few predatory rates he has. I recently added him as an AU to all my cards - none over 30% utilization and most of these cards are 10+ years old. My long term goal is to finish clearing what little standing balances I have then get my husband's reports clear.
