Anyone had any luck requesting removal from Amex Blacklist?
gerray replied to gerray's topic in Credit Forum
yeah, I’d be curious if any of those that have been let back had multiple accounts charge off and/or IIB. In my instance, I’m wondering if 3 accounts simultaneously IIB’d resulted in a “3 strikes and I’m out” permanent BL. -

They did not pull credit, it’s definitely the result of an internal blacklist. The letter phrasing states: “We're writing to let you know we cannot approve your application at this time because American Express cancelled your previous account(s).” As previously mentioned, the only AmEx accounts I’ve ever had were from my college age days and resulted in me filing Ch . 7 BK in late 2006 - discharged in early 2007. Since then I’ve been diligent on my credit and finances, with not a single late payment. I was hoping AmEx would eventually forgive (if not forget) and reopen the door to me, but alas they haven’t. Maybe I’ll try again this time next year when it’s been a full 20 years post discharge. -
Bottom Line Up Front: filed Ch. 7 bankruptcy in late 2006 and had 3 AmEx cards totaling $23.5k discharged. Never repaid. After nearly 20 years and current scores of 830+ across the board, I am in a place in life where the benefits of the Platinum card are worth the Annual Fee, so I decided to apply only to be auto denied due to “prior account(s) cancelled by AmEx”. I called to appeal but got nowhere, however I did eventually end up transferred to department that was able to provide me reference numbers for all 3 accounts, balance for each, and an address in California I could mail payment to if I so choose, but with no assurance it would result in them reopening their doors to me. My question is two-fold: 1). Anyone had any luck appealing this? 2). Will they ever forget and forgive if I do not pay, or did the balances/number of accounts IIB mark me for life?
-
I IIB multiple AmEx cards 15+ years ago and have been blacklisted ever since. I've applied a few times but credit isn't even pulled and I get the denial based on prior AmEx history. Last week I received a "Pre-Approval" letter regarding a Navy Federal American Express Card. No where on the invitation does it state anything regarding any sort of qualifiers etc (my score is now 825+ on all 3 primary bureaus). Is this a way back in the door with AmEx or will it be denied? Or will it be approved, but still zero hope of getting approved for another AmEx stand alone card?

Anyone else here a party in the Wells Fargo Class Action from 2015-2016?

Just got it delivered. It was a check for $150 with a letter explaining it was for "an amount for the hold on your deposit accounts that caused temporary loss of access to those funds" and "additional compensation for our delay in making this payment to you". The only thing I can guess it its the $20 outlined in the OP being refunded (even though it was a "fraudulent account" to begin with and not funds I deposited. I guess I should just be thankful, $150 is $150. ha. -
Long story short I was a class member (They notified me of my inclusion and I did not elect to opt out). Here we are 4 years and about an $85 check later (they sent approximately $85 if memory serves to me in or around 2018). I just received a notification of a FedEx package being sent to me via Overnight express from "Wells Fargo Customer Remediation". Anyone have any idea what this could be? I can only figure it was regarding the class action (as a back story I had reported my case of unauthorized account opening in my name back in 2013) - a former employee of mine had went to work at Wells Fargo and without my knowledge opened up a checking, savings, and overdraft account in my name. Ironically enough he just made the minimum $20 deposit to open the accounts and never utilized them so there were not negative repercussions on my end from it. Long story short, I called Wells Fargo and reported it (but only after I received numerous emails requesting me to update my address with them as my debit card and mail were returned for invalid address - he used the address that he knew me at when we had worked together, from which I had moved a couple of years prior). Ironically enough, I didnt even know he worked there and after I reported the account I guess WF investigated it because he called and confessed to me what he had done after being "under pressure to hit goals" and even told me I could keep the $20 in the account for my troubles (which I never touched). The craziest thing about it, is I always like the guy and if he had just called me and told me what he was doing I likely would have consented and would have probably used the account as I was looking to make a change in banking at the time anyway.

I'm still not convinced this is a serious post and not a poor attempt at trolling. Normally I do not call out fellow posters on here, and I'm hopeful that I do not get banned for the following, but your story seems far fetched when compared to your recent posting history: Exhibit A - You posted debating on how to "float" your $417 car payment each month to have that cash at your disposal if needed Exhibit B - 605 credit score... not sure that's a magnet for "Gold Diggers"? Also, your monthly income you listed in March has either improved in the past 90 days while most American's has decreased OR the "5 figures monthly" touted in the OP is a slight exaggeration. Exhibit C - Your score was 472 in August of 2019, but you mention your solid financial standing was obtained as the result of cleaning your credit a decade ago? There are also other posts in which you are asking for help/advice on having collection accounts removed from your credit file and with seeking advice on how to better qualify for mortgages (I am assuming this could be in reference to your current mortgage shopping for an investment property and new primary residence)... At either rate I'm skeptical of the entire post, but the biggest red herring to me is the "$700 watch that only comes out on date nights". I've met Gold Diggers before and anything lower than a Breitling isn't even going to catch their attention, haha. -

Ha, more power to you OP. What is one persons fairy tale is another's nightmare. Nothing about your setup sounds appealing to me except having the home free and clear. -

I can tell you that I IIB'd AmEx in 2007 for approx $20k and I am still definitely on the BL. Attempted to get the Hilton Honors AMEX and the inquiry didn't even process. AA letter stated declined due to "prior performance with our company". I called to ask the rep if there was a way to reconisder and they said no. No offer of Oasis (which I would have declined anyway) etc. -

Chase New Experian Vantage Score

Thanks for the info OP, I just logged into my Chase Credit Journey for the first time in months and was pleased to see the changes. I only use FAKO's for monitoring changes.. And dang, will I be glad when that final late payment falls off my report in January 2021.

Debt Consolidation Tactic

This was my though, what is the current aggregate interest rate on the credit cards? I would assume likely around industry average of ~27%? If so the interest you would save on that $20k would take you approximately 1 year to offset the $1k you are paying in an origination fee - steep price to pay just to try to refinance again in a few months (and likely face another origination fee). Have you sought CLI's (credit limit increases) on the current cards? That could be a way to expedite the utilization decreasing/increasing your credit score without taking on frivolous fees. I would suggest throwing that $1k at whatever current card you have the highest interest on and just attacking your debt with all disposable income. You will likely find that you can have the scores you desire for a more sensible consolidation loan in the same 3-4 month time frame you are currently eyeing.

Has anyone with this card received a CLI yet? Just curious as I do not even see the option to request one. -
What is considered "excellent" per FICO in terms of Average Age of Account?
gerray replied to gerray's topic in Credit Forum
Good call hdporter, as I was considering disputing them when it came to the 6 month shy of 7 yr mark (which will be soon). Both accounts were paid in full, unfortunately one of them last reported 60 days before being paid in full so it never reported “current” at the end. Just shows “paid in full - 60 day late.” will that update to being a positive trade line once the lates age off 7 years or should I consider disputing that trade line? -
2 Posts and wanting people to message him for info on how he repaired credit, when on the #1 forum for DIY credit report, and then vanishes when told to share his "information" on the forum?

After many years and cycles of the "Wash, Rinse, Repeat" credit cycle, I am finally to a point that I am confident that I have learned my lessons and now budget well, and have a sizable savings established for "emergency expenses". With that said, the MyFico simulators and the FAKO simulators all show my various score driven factors as "Excellent" other than "Average Account Age" and "Pay History" which show as Very Good - I have 2 accounts with lates from January 2014 remaining on my report, and the average age of accounts on my report currently stands at 6 yrs 7 months. My scores are all now in the 800+ range, so I'm not concerned with improving it (though I am anxious to see the impact when the last of the "lates" age off), But I'm curious, at what threshold is "Average Account Age" considered "Excellent"?
