AMEX HAS NOT TOUCHED ANY OF MY ACCTS YET thread
SanDiegoCharger replied to Mark LA's topic in Credit Forum
My account is still DOA after they cancelled it due to a bankruptcy they claim I filed. Problem is I never filed bankruptcy, I informed them yet they still managed to screw up my credit file with a reporting of "discharged in bankruptcy" I am still working on getting this corrected and so far they have been worthless in correcting their own mistake and have yet to reinstate my account. I have been PM'd by another member at Credit Boards with identical circumstances who had his account closed in the same manner. No apologies. Damaged credit. They simply don't care. -
OP I hope you get some justice from the ivory tower because your post is an argument against the Oaisis program if AmEx can capriciously kill your credit lines after you fullfilled your part of the deal. They got something and didn't hold up the end of the bargain and that is wrong. Now about my card that was canelled for a bankruptcy that I didn't make, now that's because they are salamanders and I wasn't out any money and I had a zero balance on the card since Dec 3rd anyway. Friggen salamanders.

I recently gave AM EX another chance. salamanders. I just recieved a letter stating my account had been cancelled as I had informed them "I had declared bankruptcy". That WOULD be a good reason for cancelling my card if true, but since I did NOT file bankruptcy, and no one with a similar name as I have an uncommon name and no one with my name appears on PACER having filed bankruptcy I can fairly state these morons still have their craniums where there anal appartus should be. My fault for giving them a second chance. I have requested that they report the account closed by consumer. (By phone call as they have locked up my email) I have a FICO of 800 with $2700 debt showing with $150,000 in available credit minus the closed Amex Blue. Cretins! The Customer Diservice Rep who at first was rude thinking I was a Bankrupt figured someone inputed my account by mistake. Duh!

I differ with you posters on that here, "update" isn't hidden at all. This was a "duh" moment. Feel free to blush.

Would I Be Setting Myself Up For an F/R?

Was this a full blown A/R with Tax Forms? or a minor with check stubs or bank account statements for 3 months? -
Would I Be Setting Myself Up For an F/R?

AmEX already knows you're a student no? If they conduct a full FR what would you anticipate as they delve into your application vs financials/new credit lines, potential debt and resources for paying them? If the answer is you have considerable resources its not a problem if not, not so much. -
Sometimes the sky does fall. Once while on a trip, despite FICOs in the low 700's no sudden new accounts or rash of new charges I has a capricious freeze on my accounts and had the dreaded FR. They wouldn't grant my request to allow some of my credit lines to be available say $1000. I "fired" them and never looked back though did consider reopening them for "window dressing" Too high maintenance for me. I want a card I can use without cringing at checkout lines, but for those who love that surge of adrenaline knock yourselves out. Citi, Bank of America have all been good to me and offer Their own Amex for say shopping at Costco.

Can you get a cash advance? Some gas cards advance $50 - $100

Writing to a creditor's attorney informing them you are judgement proof, are on social security disability and there are no assets that may be attached (as an example) may prevent a lawsuit since the attorney would have the ethical duty to inform their client before running up legal expenses that the probability of getting anything are nill.

I'm not offended, I believe in "F"

A little disturbed sums it up nicely.

The best way is to have affidavits made stating the correct information with any supporting documentation presented to a judge in family court who would then file a court order "correcting" the birth certificate. It would be a good idea to do so with all the new Homeland Security Laws and all. Most universities offer on campus legal aid. Good luck

My Amex "experience" took place over 2 years ago when my lines were frozen while away from home. At the time my credit reports showed $800 in balances owing with real FICOs in the 740's (I checked at the time to see if there was any adverse info that may have triggered the event and there was none) I had back ups, Mastercard and Visa so my vacation/business trip was not ruined BUT I would have been stuck otherwise. I could see freezing some of it making say $1000 available for a customer with a flawless record but the whole enchalada was bovine feces. I considered reapplying for a card for window dressing now and the sheer joy of given them the expense of printing a card etc. etc. etc. but I don't need or want these morons. My FR was entirely random. I was not late if anything I paid the day after the statement cut unless they had an issue with that. BTW Anyone I do business with earns or loses my business in the way they operate. Having an obsessive unhealthy passion for a faceless corporation borders on the creepy. When one has such a fixation for a faceless corporation that criticism towards that organization is taken as a personal affront, its time to get professional help. Paxil may make one poster see this thread in an entirely different light.

I for one had a capricious f/r on an established account, no requests for increases, no massive additions in credit card quantity and at the time total debt was under $1000 out of $80,000 or so in total credit lines. Household income was at the time in the mid $100,000. A frozen line of credit did not fit my business model and I fired them and told them to close my accounts. I opened a Citi Amex for those shopping trips to Costco and have no worries or cringes when I swipe my card. I find Amex to be a second tier organization and a shadow of the fine organization they used to be.
