  1. Got a denial letter for a CLI on my WalMart card yesterday. The credit score noted (621) was dated November 01, 2012. I didn't get the auto CLIs at 4 months for Amazon or WalMart, and I haven't received any thorugh the UW line either. I used both cards through the holidays (almost maxing them each out) and paid in full, and still nothing. What gives?
  2. I DV'd Midland (past 30 days) and disputed with the CRAs. This account was "opened" in 07/2012 (for a Target CO). Yesterday I got a letter asking for proof or supporting documentation for my dispute. Today I noticed that they hit me with a 120 day late on EQ. Is this right? I am not sure how I can end up with new late payments on an account that was C/O in 2010. What am I missing here? It's been awhile since I had to deal with a CA.
  3. EX just added this account to my reports. Date Opened: 07/2012 Date of Status: 12/2012 Reported Since: 12/12 Terms: 1 month Type: NA Monthly Payment: NA Responsibility: Individual Credit Limit: NA High Balance: NA Recent Balance: NA Recent Payment: NA Last Reported Date: NA Your Statement: Account in dispute under Fair Credit Billing Act. Does any of this seem right? I've never disputed the accoount. I have to admit I am not even familiar with the Fair Credit Billing Act. So Midland has added this account to all CRAs, but each one is reporting completely differently.
  4. So if I understand correctly, because I told Midland that I disputed the account, TU can mark the account as "disputed meets FCRA requirements". It hasn't even been 30 days, and I never spoke to TU directly. How would TU investigate if it doesn't know what I am disputing? This account has been handled by other CAs, each of which I have DV'd in the past and they have taken a hike. The other strange thing is that Midland has only had this account since July, yet they have added almost $200 to the $687 balance. Are they allowed to report the account before the 30 day DV period is up? They are reporting that the account was open in July, but the letter wasn't dated until 12/01. EQ is reporting the account "at least 120 days past due".. how is that possible? grrr....
  5. Alert today, new collection from Midland reporting. I received the dunning letter dated 12/01/12, and I already have the DV letter written. Can they report prior to the 30 day notice? Also, the collection indicates 07/01/12 as the date opened??? Finally, TU is already marking the account as "disputed meets FCRA requirements"... Strange since I have not disputed yet. When Midland called I did tell them that I fully disputed this debt and would send a DV letter once I received their debt notice. This was in November. They indicated that they had not sent a letter notifying of the debt because they werent sure that they had the right address??? Anyway, EQ and TU are already reporting. I need to dispute, and will have the letter sent Certified on Wed. Can TU post a dispute when I havent even disputed yet? Can Midland report when the 30 days hasnt passed. I haven't disputed had a collection in a long time. This is for a Target account which CO in 12/10. The letter I received from Midland indicates that the account has been "assigned".. Is it worth contacting Target to make a settlement offer?
  6. So, my 4th WalMart statement cut, and unfortunately, no auto CLI. As I've posted on the GECRB related strings, I've also been denied CLI when calling directly to the UW team. I've received different letters on why no CLI, including length of time at current limit. I thought a CLI at 4 months was automatic. I've only used the card twice and paid it off both times before the statement cut. I have Amazon also, and don't think I will see an CLI on them either when my 4th statement cuts on 12/23. My WM TU score is 625. I've read in some cases GE likes to see above a 650. Is this true for auto CLI only?
  7. I am not currently actively seeking a mortgage, but I am trying to clean up my credit. I'm working on trying to settle with some accounts, bills are being paid on time, etc. I am thinking about submitting a mortgage app for no other reason than to pull them all out of the woodwork. If for some reason, I do decide to apply for a mortgage next year, I wanto have dealt with this stuff beforehand. Downsides? Anyone have experience doing this?
  8. @ Repairer - The COs are Merrick (has not been sold, Merrick is reporting a balance), Target (has been assigned, Target is reporting a balance), and Sterling (has not been sold, reporting a balance). In 3/4 of the cases the balance is greater than the CL, which I believe may ultimately be affecting my utilization. Based on my research, none of these companies do PFD, so that is out of the question. The highest balance is Merrick at $1664. As an aside, is there a % guideline on what to offer for settlements?

    Macy's

Background:I had a Macy's account that I fell behind in payments on two years ago. The account was closed, and I eventually paid off the balance. Would I be blacklisted even though I paid off the full amount owed?
  10. I have a few 2 year old COs that are lingering on my reports. I am in a position to pay them off or arrange a settlement. The immediate benefit I see is that it will bring my util down. Overall I am at 16%, but 3 of the 4 COs were for amounts greater than the actual CL. Will settling them and have the -0- balance report improve my reports/scores? Will paying them cause them to be reaged? Help!
  11. To narrow this down, where do I start when offering a settlement? I am going to reach out to these OCs, but want to be smart about my negotiations.
  12. All charged off in 2010, balances as follows: 1)Merrick $1684 2)Target $700 3)Jared $127 Merrick and Jared have balances reporting over the actual CL, so I believe in addition to it being a CO, it is hurting my utilization. Is there a benefit to trying to settle them now? I don't beleive it will reage the account as I am in NM, but I may be wrong, so please chime in if that is the case. If I call to settle, what is a good starting point for an offer? Obviously they are all within SOL? I was going to start with 50% for Merrick and Target and 100% for Jared. Thoughts? I also have an old CA which constantly reports for a property management company which charged me an extra month of rent because my notice was not a full 30 days (it was 22 days and the lease was up.. but anyhow). The default date is 03/2007, and I have tried many times to dispute with all CAs, as well as the OC. All they do is update the balance every time. The original amount due was in the $450 range. Should I try to settle this one also? I am really reluctant to do so, I mean I moved out by the lease expiration date, had my walk throught, shampooed the carpets, everything! They never mentioned that they would charge me the extra month, of course it was embedded in the fine print of my lease!! This is one of 2 CAs on my report. The other one is for a $32 medical bill, that I have also tried to dispute, including filing with the BBB and no dice. Thoughts??? Help? I've begun to reestablish credit, paid on time, kept balances low, live within my means, but I really would like to tackle these.
  13. C/O dates on all are 12/2010. I just want to clean them up so the balance will report -0-, and I can get this stuff off my back. I am not sure how to go about this. I think all but Target are still with the OC. I am not opposed ot offering a lump sum, but don't really know what range to offer (30, 40, 50% of balance?) Any suggestions? Also, will paying them off reset the clock and reporting? I really want to avoid further damage to mys scores. 1)Kays: Balance $1207 (CL $1400) 2)Merrick: Balance $1677 (CL $1200) 3)Target: Balance $690 (CL $500) 4)Jared: Balance $127 (CL $400) I know that none of these are known to PFD, so my goal is really just to get a -0- reporting balance, as I am sure charge off vs. paid charge off doesnt have much affect on score.
  14. The underwriting line has yet to wield an increase, even given one attempt every 30 days. My Amazon and WalMart credit lines won't budge. The call lasted 10 minutes this morning, and I still got the underwriter to come back and say he was sorry he couldnt approve an increase, and I will receive a letter. I asked for 3k, and didn't even receive a counter. My income is in the mid 80s, util under 15%, TU FICO is 627. Wish I knew what the "secret formula" was. Funny, as happy as I was to get the cards, I was more excited about the potential CLIs. Every call just ends in frustration now.
  15. Have any of my fellow CBers used a service called Legal Shield? Have you used them for credit related issues? My hairdresser is trying to close on a house and was using someone to repair her credit (I didnt ask who it was). Apparently this guy referred her to Legal Shield for an old unpaid judgement. It had been disputed several times, and kept coming back verified. She enlisted this service and apparently they wrote a letter to the Lender (which the Lender accepted) indicating that the judgement had been improperly filed as she was never served, etc., etc. She was ecstatic because her lender agreed to accept the lender and push the loan through. In any case, I am wondering whether anyone has used this service and what thier experiences are.
