  1. GA. It would be around 2023 when the last payment was made.
  2. I was served by Jefferson Capital today via a County Police Officer. I don't see anything regarding a court date and he simply read a statement from the paper. I don't know how to proceed from here or if I have any options. It is from 2022 and roughly around $2500 of which I don't have. I know some of these JDB purchase old/bad debt. Any advice would be appreciated.
  3. We got an email saying that one of our cards with Capital One has been upgraded to the Capital One World Elite Mastercard. The email looks like the other ones I usually get from Capital One - but I can't find this card on their website. Does anyone know if this card is still being issued and if this could be a legit email from Capital One? It doesn't say we have to do anything or click any buttons/links contained in the email. When I log in to the account it still looks the same as it always has.
  4. I got an email today from Capital One saying that we could upgrade our Platinum Card with no rewards to a QS card with 1.5% Cash back - but with the same CL. Basically they give us a new card with it's benefits with no credit increase. I feel like we would be better off just applying for the card as an additional card would give us the same benefits - but I could be wrong. As far as moving to a different issuer we are a little apprehensive as we don't know where to try with. We tried for a Chase card and was given the 7-10 day message. Maybe something like BOA or a CU? Score is in the mid 700's with no derogs.
  5. It is Platinum card that started with a $2k limit and hasn’t moved.
  6. I keep getting “credit usage to low” when trying for a CLI with Capital One. I called and the rep said they weren’t sure how to advise me on what usage is needed. Oddly I was told the decision is made in the back office and we can’t talk to them. Does anyone know how much usage is needed? I usually don’t carry a balance and I utilize close to 25% of my balance each month.
  7. If he tries for a Chase card is there one that he should focus on trying to get with his thin file and a score around 725? They seem to have several that are Cash Back - but I don't know if certain qualifications are necessary.
  8. Someone has asked me if they should roll the dice on either a Chase or Citi card. I don't really know how to answer that question b/c I don't think they have a prequalifier and they have so many different card options and I don't know how they are with approvals. The person has a 725ish score and currently has a Capital One with a decent limit and doesn't carry a balance. Their oldest TL is a little over 1 year. Also does anyone know if you apply for a certain card - but you might qualify for a different option they have is that a possibility or is it just that one card you apply for? Is it worth trying for either of these and if so is there a particular card they should try to get? I think he is open to other options outside of these if it is worth the shot.
  9. My son usually charges something and then pays it off the next day or by the next due date at least. He maintains a low balance especially around when his payment is due and the days following that Capital One reports it to the CRA. He purchased some tickets for an event through TicketMaster and charged it to his credit card. He has already paid it off and his credit card account is reflecting a $0 balance. My question is we noticed that TicketMaster has 3 pending transactions which is for more than double his CL. It shows he has no available credit due to the Pending Transactions. We called both Capital One and TicketMaster to see about the Pending Transactions. TicketMaster said those 3 pending transactions were from cancelled orders b/c the event was a high demand event and by the time they processed the payment the tickets weren't available anymore. On Saturday they authorized the charge and then recredited the authorization immediately. It wasn't until Sunday that the recredited authorization was removed leaving the pending authorization and this has caused the available credit to be $0 even though the posted balance is also at $0. TicketMaster was supposed to expedite to have them removed - but it still hasn't dropped. TicketMaster said it could take 3-5 business days to drop. Does anyone know if Capital One reports to the CRA before these Pending Transactions drop if that will cause them to report him as over the limit or will they report his $0 balance even though he has pending transactions that will not or they say will not post since they were cancelled by TicketMaster? I guess it is a lesson learned b/c if he needs to use his card...he won't be able to until TicketMaster releases the authorization which is a different issue.
  10. I called and got an automated message stating that the application was approved and they would be sending the card and information through the mail.
  11. It's been about a week to 10 days since I opted back in for promotional offers. I was wondering if doing that could cause an increased amount of calls. The message said it could take around 5 or so business days if I remember to process. It may not be related but for some reason I am getting a significant amount of spam calls to my phone today. Like a lot more than normal and I was just wondering if it could be related to opting back in. They are ranging from all over the place.
  12. My experience with Capital One using both the "See if your Preapproved" checker and applying online has been either a firm approval or denial. I know sometimes you get messages like we will let you know in 7-10 days which in my experience has always meant a denial. I wanted to see what this message might mean in possibly one way or the other. It was something to the effect that it said - "You're almost approved." It wanted 1 item from 2 different lists and then they would review and let us know in 7-10 days via mail. I don't really think it means an approval with the wording - but I haven't really saw that kind of wording before. We provided them the documents they were requesting and waiting to see what they say.
  13. UPDATE: We were notified of an approval for the Unsecured Discover IT Card today with a $500 limit. This is our first experience with Discover at all. With this should we still pursue the Secured Card and Secured Loan with the local CU? We will get him added as an AU to our cards too.
  14. Sorry! I have posted a few questions already. Our son just graduated and we should have already been working on this...but he is 18 and he hasn't had anything in his name. We are members of a local CU and also DCU. Shortly before his graduation I spoke to the local CU who said he should probably open a Secured Card with them (they use Elan) for around $500 at least and also open either a Secured Line of Credit or a Secured Personal Loan with them for at least $500 to get him going. They recommended opening one of each product. The only thing he has applied for is a Discover IT Student card b/c for the last 6 months since he turned 18 they have been sending him preapproved letters weekly. Discover is the only offers he has been getting in the mail. He applied and they asked for proof that he was a student so we submitted it and we are waiting to see if he gets approved or not. This is for the unsecured version of the card. While we wait to see if he is approved for the Discover IT card and if we should move forward with the local CU Secured route...should we consider making him an AU on one of our unsecured cards with good pay history and low utilization or just try to get him something solely on his own? I don't know if being an AU helps or hurts.
  15. I remember a while back in our journey that I read that we should opt out of the prescreen offers (at least I think that was what I read). What I don't remember is if that was when you were starting to rebuild or if after you have cleaned up that you should opt back in. We have finally got back in the mid-600's and I wanted to see if we should stay opted out or opt back in. What should we do?
