  1. Thanks for being so helpful. By the way, I'm in Florida too.
  2. Well since it's only $50 I figured I'd just get rid of it by paying it, instead of it sittin on my report. I was wondering if I could send the CA a letter saying I want to deal with the Original Creditor (hospital) only, since it is listed on my report as an Open Account. But, if I do that, will the "collection" be deleted from my account? will there be any trace on my report that the debt ever went to collections?
  3. First off, thanks to everybody on the site for all the great info. Now here's the situation. I have a Collection on my credit report for $50. It reads the Original Creditor is a local Hospital. I dont know what this is, I dont even think I owe it, but I dont even remember, so I'm not sure. It says it was placed for collections on 9/2004 The original Balance is $50 And the collection balance is $50. I want this off my report, and I'm tempted to just pay it since it's only $50. But should I dispute? Request validation? Or send them a letter saying I'll pay it off only if they delete it from my credit report. And if there is a sample letter that's perfect for this situation, can someone post a link to one. Thanks in advance. By the way, off topic: I'm battling Discover Card right now also, I got a summons, I counter claimed (incorrect balance) and next thing I know my score went up 24 points for now while it's in dispute, but we'll see.
