Help w/ starting rehab and Collection Technology Inc.
dfwguy22 replied to dfwguy22's topic in Student Loans
I called and they said my type of loan didn't require a signed agreement...but the rep did send me a "welcome letter" saying I was in the rehab program and the basic terms of it, etc... -

Well it's been a few weeks...and my first scheduled automatic payment was taken out today. I still haven't received a rehab agreement in the mail. Only a letter letting me know they are going to make a withdrawal every month on the account I gave them. Should I be worried that they played me and didn't set me up in rehab after all? -

OK...so I called back and made my 1st payment and they asked what date I wanted to make them from now on and I told them. And of course they went over a brief summary of how rehab works, etc... After reading other threads...are they going to automatically going to send me a rehab agreement in writing or do I need to request it? Also, can I make payments via myeddebt.com and they count or do I have to call this CO every month? Thanks! -
I'm starting the process of repairing my credit and I have 26k worth of loans assigned to Collection Technology Inc. I have been reading about rehabilitation and called them wanting to get the process started. The rep at first was very nice and asked me a few qualifying questions and said I qualified to make a payment that I was comfortable making. She said she could take my first payment right then on the phone. However, I was just calling to get everything arranged so I could make my 1st payment on June 10 when I get paid next (I get paid once a month). Her tone slightly changed and she mentioned wage garnishment....I reminded her that I called her proactively and that I want to pay this but couldn't send it until the 10th. I also told her, being in sales myself, I understand the importance of getting results today and while I identify with that, I couldn't do it. I was put on hold and a manager came on the line...trying to tell me that I was calling in May and that I had to pay in May, etc.... She also wanted a copy of my 1040 emailed to her to qualify me for a lower payment? I guess what I'm trying to get at is....are they just trying to get some $ upfront to get a bonus, etc....or if I stick to my guns on paying my 1st rehab pymt on June 10 will they back down? Thanks CB for your help!

I sent Portfolio a DV & Limited C&D letter CMRRR apx 3 weeks ago for an old credit card debt from First National Bank of Omaha. Their response was to send me a notarized "Affidavit of Ownership and Sale of Claim." Would a judge consider that proper validation (I'm in TX)? If not, how would everyone suggest that I proceed? Also, the date of the loan is 3/26/2001 as per their letter they sent me, so I'm thinking I should go the past SOL route, but I'm not sure (SOL is 4 years here). I've been researching this site and have a few ideas, but want to make sure before I fire off letter #2. Thanks!
