    Welcome to Paradise
  1. I have only $4000 to make a dent in an ~$11,000 balance on credit cards. Their interest rates are all approximately the same (22%) and they are all near the limit. Edited to add: I was asked my goal. To reduce money wasted on interest and reduce monthly payments to the cards. $7000 Mastercard $3100 Visa $500 Visa $300 Visa Thank you.
  2.     I have a question about this. I have already used the max "direct deposit advance" offered by my bank. My check that will direct deposit on Friday will more than cover it. I'm still going to be short the next few days. Months ago I was at the ATM and accidentally punched in a cash withdrawal that was more than I had in my account. The screen said something like "if you choose this option, you will be charged a $35 overdraft fee." I backed up and entered the correct amount, but I was kind of surprised that the bank would "loan" me money for a $35 fee, but is this an option? Just go over to the ATM and withdraw more than I have, and suffer the $35 fee when my check direct deposits?? There will be no other activity on my account this week so I won't incur other fees.
  3. Weird week, I've exhausted all the usual avenues of pulling money out of my a$$ and I'm not going to make it until payday next Friday. I need a payday loan for a very small amount for less than a week. I'm afraid of these online places having my banking info, but of course that's the way it works. Can anyone recommend a place that didn't steal from you? :-)
  4. I have a 200k USDA loan at just under 5%, no PMI. Wondering what the current rates are and if they are low enough to make it worth the hassle and minor expense of a refi, especially since my understanding is if I refi, with the newer rules PMI will be added on.
  5. If you had $4000 to throw at these cards, in what way would you do it? Util is about the same on all, ~60% MC $6000 balance, 19% interest Visa $3100 balance, 25% interest - this is Chase, so there is high likelihood they will balance chase. Visa $500 balance, 14% interest Visa $400 balance, 14% interest Thanks!
  6. Thank you for sharing this. Chase balanced chased me a few years ago and I've been making closer to minimum payments since then. I was going to mostly pay it off with my tax return, but now probably won't. I wonder if they are just as likely to CLD if they are paid off in full rather than just paid down sharply.
  7. I am 3 days late on my Citibank visa payment, just a mistake. I go online to make a payment as normal, and instead am routed to a bunch of "program survey" questions about "how long will my financial situation continue" ... I don't want to accidentially make it look like I'm having financial trouble, I just want to make a normal payment - I'll be current, not overlimit, etc. Can anyone tell me how to get around the "program" I don't need?
  8. And does anyone have a website to recommend where I can keep an eye on their rates? I bought my house only 2 years ago, interest rate high 4's. I was told USDA loans can be refinanced. Does all the chatter about "almost out of money for this year" also pertain to refinancing, i.e. should I wait until they get their money for next year?
  9. I have a great rate but wondering if rates have dropped enough to make it worth refinancing. Where is a good site to keep an eye on rates?
  10. I've had a Citi card for about 3 years which was originally the 0% interest for 18 months deal, so that period has passed. I've just received an "invitation" in the mail to apply for another one of their cards, offering the same deal. How likely is it that if I applied, they'd then find me in their system already having that card, and deny me? Are you any more likely to be approved for cards you're "invited" to apply for? It doesn't say anything about pre-approved.
  11. Both. But does the public record stay on for 10 years?
  12. That's what I thought, but wanted to ask. Another forum said they had seen 2.9% for used, which would be a very attractive rate to me.
  13. The judgement was satisfied on 11/2005 and verified on 4/2006, but when I looked it up last year a DOFD showed as 6/2004, so I wanted to say "its been more than 7 years from 6/2004, remove it."
  14. Can you refer me how to bring this up with EQ? Would the "dispute this item" online work well enough, or do they prefer paper correspondence? Edit to add: None of the ownership or account information dispute buttons apply to me, so not sure which one to click.
  15. Do Honda and Toyota offer financing deals on used vehicles? If so, what is the best way to find out if one is going on now and if the dealerships I'm looking at are participating? Is ~690 score with one 6.2 year old neg TL considered "bruised" credit? What sort of interest rate will I be looking at?
