  1. I'm barely even a lurker at this point, and even I knew it was Joe right away. Lol.

  3. So I've been mostly out of the game for a while and laying low in terms of CLIs and whatnot for the past couple of years, but this struck me as particularly ridiculous and I'm wondering if it's par for the course these days. Long story short, given multiple bank buyouts and all, I've wound up with two Chase Freedom accounts. I called tonight about consolidating the two and was told that Chase cannot consolidate them despite their being identical account types. Is this really what they're doing these days, in everyone's experience? Ridiculous. Why on earth would I want two Freedom cards, and why on earth would they refuse to combine them? Ugh... Even worse, when they told me that, I requested a CLI on the one account I actually use. Now, I've known for years that Chase requires a hard pull for CLIs so I haven't asked for one in all the time I've had accounts with them. But, given the fact that they refused to consolidate and my partner and I have graduated from college, increasing our income very substantially from the time I originally opened the account, I figured I'd finally go for it. I went for the hard pull, telling them that my annual HHI is $92K, requesting a limit of $15K, which is in line with my limits of $15-20K from other issuers. They then came back telling me they could increase the limit on that card from $1,000 to $1,500. I actually laughed at the woman who had to give me that news. Is this typical for Chase these days? I was given the number to call the lending department when they're open tomorrow, but if they won't give me a much better offer, I'll close all 3 of my Chase accounts. $1,500 just seems ridiculous to me for an account that I'd like to make one of my primary cards given their rewards structure. I refuse to deal with such a stingy bank in a time when I'm looking to consolidate and/or close accounts that aren't really benefiting me. Has anyone else had a similar experience lately, or better luck with higher level underwriters? Thanks.
  4. I actually feel the need to emerge from lurkerdom to respond to this. You have a very black and white view of the world, seen from only your own experiences in life, huh? I know it wasn't discussed explicitly too much in the commercial, but there are lots of folks with balance and/or flexibility issues for whom this would be helpful. A lot like that swiveling car seat thing that people love to make fun of unless they personally know someone who would benefit from it. Do you have anyone close to you who has serious joint or back issues or has survived a stroke, perhaps? No? But for the grace of God... I can relate to joking about products like these because, hey, the commercials are funny. But getting all condescending and judge-y says more about you than it does about others, to be perfectly honest.
  5. That is incorrect. Although you must make all nine payments to get out of default status, you can regain eligibility for additional federal aid after your sixth payment has been made. http://www2.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/DCS/going.back.to.school.html
  6. Are you sure it's the same loan? Have you checked your records in the NSLDS? It sounds to me like you probably rehabbed a Stafford that was originally from Citi, but that you're being sued for a Perkins. With a Perkins, the school is the lender.
  7. They'll fall off 7 years after the default.
  8. You are more precious to me than cherries. Would it be presumptuous of me to send you some nude photos? The question, of course, is of whom?
  9. Yes, she will lose her grace period if she consolidates right away.
  10. Did you do a one time electronic check, or agree to automatic drafts? An electronic check doesn't give them any more information than a paper check. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Even an automatic draft would be fine with me as long as you make sure you always have sufficient funds in your account. The late will definitely have some effect on your scores, but there are too many variables involved to guess about the severity of the impact.
  11. 1280x800 is a widescreen resolution (16:10 aspect ratio).
  12. http://rapgenius.com/lyrics/The-notorious-b-i-g/Big-poppa I think this site is going to keep me from doing anything productive for a while.
  13. You can consolidate through Direct Loans during your grace period. Play around with their calculators and see if any of their available repayment plans would lower your monthly payment. Chances are good that at least one of them would.
  14. Is this a federal loan? If so, your promissory note would have included a clause stating that billing notices are sent only as a courtesy and are not required.
