so my daughter texts me that a Marlene from Process Service called and left a message for me and a file number. I call because I thinks it has to do with an old student loan. I call, no answer. Recording says J D Consulting and call back from 9 -4 Paciific time. Fine. Call this morning and a guy answers "Million Brachman Consulting". Hmmm. I give him the file number and he says it's from Stream Energy when I opened an account in April 2006 and it was closed in July 2010 and I have a balance of ....................$945!! Yeah, whatever, dude. I ask him what address he has for that file, "I don't have that," he says. But I have your current address as blah, blah, blah. Yep, that's correct. So I said, you are to delete my daughter's phone number from your records. He stated they did that because I didn't respond to a letter sent out o Dec 2, 2015. So I said sorry, never got it. So he says, are you sure you didn't mistake it for junk mail? Nope. I open ALL mail addressed to me. I asked him to resend. He says, well, the next correspondence we sent will be a court date and you can answer in court if you think it's not yours. Fine. Do what you need to do. HA!!!!!!!!!! JUST spoke to lawyer.........she said they are NOT supposed to call and threaten lawsuit (which I knew). She said NEXT TIME THEY CALL, RECORD THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Thank you, Legal Shield.

Yes, I will be working on cleaning up reports. My 3 bad tradelines are three years old and five years old... and total about $4,000. Disputing them didn't help, so I will either have to do pay for delete or wait for them to fall off. After doing some thinking, I think I'm going to hold off apping for another credit card. I have two; that's all I want to handle for now. If CAP ONE does an increase in a few months after on-time payments, then that's good enough for me. This thread has been VERY interesting and I have learned a lot. -

Apply for a another capital one card. Capital One Journey, QuickSilver One, anything. You'll be approved for another $300 card. In Six Months or a year, you can merge the credit lines together Say what? Apply for ANOTHER Cap One Card? NOW???? This thread is going back and forth. Someone says one thing someone else says another. You need to decide how you want to proceed OP. I think you have received all of the advice you can get. Anything more seems like it may just be a repeat of what has already been said. Good luck! Well, NOBODY has mentioned applying for another CAP ONE card right away...........unless I missed it...... -

That's not a good idea to not use the Open Sky at all when she only has 2 cards. Use it at least every 2 months for somethi ok. will do. -

I didn't see much difference in the two.......other than the annual fee..... Too late now, I guess. They said I would get card in 7 - 10 days and they already have me set up online for account review, etc. -

Why do you want the money back so soon? If you're broke you shouldn't be screwing around with credit anyway. Unless of course you are super responsible. Leave the Open Sky alone for 2 years. If you have a 630 FICO and a year of age on your current accounts you can get regular unsecured cards from certain lenders. If you have less than a year on your current account then I would suggest a top tier secured card that offers rewards. How does your EQ look? Didn't say I was broke. What I meant was, didn't want to do another secured card. EQ looks decent........two negativeaccounts; one is 2 years old, one is three years old. And of course good account for Open Sky that is new. The reason I wanted to close Open Sky is for the reasons I already stated.......slow posting, etc., and since CAP ONE approved me, I was just going to let OPEN SKY sit in a drawer and not use it. However, since everyone has advised me differently.........I'll just pay it off and not use it. -

Yes, only two cards. Not sure who else I want to apply with. Perhaps a merchant card; Walmart; JC Pennys? -
I've had a secured card with Open Sky since May 2015.........Credit limit of $340. Not too happy with it. First of all, it does NOT cover auto insurance like other Visa credit cards, therefore, when I rent I must take the additional insurance coverage. I do not own a car. Secondly, it takes 3 to 4 days for the payment to post!! WHY? Ridiculous. And no increase unless you send in another deposit!!!!!!! BUT.........it has improved my score from 545 to 630 in just a few months , HOWEVER, I pulled the trigger today and applied and was APPROVED for Cap One's Platinum card.....$300 limit. Read online views that after 5 on-time payments, automatic increase with asking. I think I am going to pay off Open Sky and just leave it...........but one I get Cap One card Open Sky going in the sock drawer. How soon can I close it and get my money back WITHOUT tanking my score?
