So yeah, my 'gated apartment community' is awesome...
MrsRNA replied to Fataliya's topic in General Discussion
You're in Tampa proper? Because that looks a lot like the only gated community in my hometown where one of the delivery drivers I worked with was robbed at gunpoint. Only robbery in the 18 months I worked there. -
DH and I were there in August. We stayed at Planet Hollywood. We had a regular room and I'd stay in that again before I stay in the suite we had at the Mirage. I definitely recommend Love and Blue Man Group and we loved Voodoo, which is the bar on the roof of the Rio.

How much did you spend this holiday season?
MrsRNA replied to I Need help too's topic in General Discussion
Right around $100. $150 if I include DH's care package but I have money for care packages budgeted every month. -
I've had the mytouch since August and I love it!

I'm moving to Parkland in a month.

I didn't realize the first time buyer exception was limited to $10,000. Err ofcourse they advised that, they want to make $$$ off of you. Not that you had to heed the MM/HYSA advice given, but... You will see the error when you go to take out the money for your downpayment in short time. I'm not sure how they're just trying to make money off me, there are no sales fees and even taking into account the expense ratio, the fund I chose still has been earning more than any MM or HYSA I found. Our goal isn't necessarily 20% down, we're just not at a point either financially or in our careers where we're ready to buy so we're saving for when we are. NACA is a great program but we most likely won't be able to take advantage of it because I know we won't live in the home for the whole length of the mortgage and I don't know if we would be able to fulfill the membership requirements unless we don't buy until after we retire.

I spoke with an advisor at USAA and set up a mutual fund account.

The main reason I wanted to put it into the TSP is because DH is AD Army and I'm joining as well. We haven't had a lot of stability location wise so far so there is a possibility that we won't end up buying until after we retire.

DH got a raise as well, he's getting another in January.

DH and I are going to start saving for a mortgage downpayment, however, we won't be buying for at least 5 years, probably closer to 10. I'm not sure where we should be putting the money in the mean time. It's not something we would need liquid so I'm thinking about putting it in his TSP but I'm not sure if that's a dumb idea.

She only uses a check if they don't take VISA/MC/DISCOVER... Otherwise she uses a credit card There is no possible way I could overdraw her checking account (since I don't use it) Good to know...

1) I wanted to establish good credit(I had just turned 18 when I joined) and clean up DH's report. 2) Now I want to pay off the debt we've accumulated (sigh),stay out of debt and finish cleaning DH's report.
