  1. Anyone know how it might be possible for this to happen? I subscribe to both MyFICO and directly to Experian. On the same day, my Experian FICO score went up 15 points while my Experian score on MyFICO went down 13 points. If both are Experian FICO scores, why are they doing different things?
  2. Been a PenFed member for over 10 years, and never got approved for anything with them. On a whim I applied for their Rewards Visa and got approved for 31K! Put in 2 more apps, and got approved for Patelco Visa 10K, and USAA Mastecard for 5K. All approved on March 30th, the day after closing on my house
  3. The hardest part with Veterans United was the waiting. The process itself was the smoothest I could have imagined considering a few credit bumps. If you can be prompt with uploading the documents they need, closing in 30 days in a snap. I actually closed on a 335K loan with one unpaid, but disputed medical collection, and less than two years removed from a short sale on my previous mortgage. Closed just this afternoon, and got the keys in hand. These guys do good work.
  4. Just closed today, and got the keys. The process with Veterans United went very well. This is my second VA loan, and this was by far the smoothest. They kinda gave it away over a week ago when I received a personalized welcome mat with my family name on it via UPS. I'd recommend Veterans United is a good option for those qualifying for VA.
  5. Thanx for the info and the discount code. What good is a FAKO score other than to confuse people? They're not even close.
  6. I got the scores directly from the bureaus. The TU score came from TrueCredit.
  7. I applied to Navy Fed to do a VA refinance of my mortgage. I did so after pulling scores from all three bureaus. I pulled EQ/621, EX/662, and TU/739. When I got my docs from Navy Fed, the credit scores they pulled were EQ/621, EX/588, and TU/599! Why and how could there be such a disparity in the scores? Has this happened to anyone else? Needless to say, the NFCU underwriters turned me down, but this is BS. I wouldn't have even applied with those scores. Semper
  8. Yes, and they are terrible. Beware. I got out from under them, but got slammed with a 4400.00 prepayment penalty. It was a crushing blow to my credit recovery plan. Also, they are terrible at credit reporting. They will make up stuff to put on your credit report like late pays. It took months to get that stuff off my credit reports EVEN WITH PROOF OF PAYMENT AND CANCELLED CHECKS. My advice is to stay clear of them. It's not worth the hassle.
  9. My mortgage is with HFC Beneficial. I'd love to get a modification, but they simply ignore your correspondence unless they're asking for a payment. Ideally, I'd like to refinance with someone else, but this mortgage has my credit scores hostage. The payments are too big for me to eek out enough money to pay down my revolving balances, so my credit scores never rise enough to qualify to refinance the loan that's keeping them down. It's a vicious cycle, and HFC Beneficial is absolutely terrible. I don't know what to do. If I could get them to respond to my correspondence that would be a major milestone. I'm sick of the phone calls from India where I can't even understand what the people are saying due to their thick accents. Heeeeelp!
  10. I'm a PenFed member, but I've never done anything through them. It may be worth a try. Semper
  11. Finally! I got a letter today from NationStar along with the complete payment history showing no lates. The letter says that all credit bureaus will be updated accordingly, and they apologize for any inconvenience they may have caused. The wife and I should see a bump in our scores pretty soon. That letter is Christmas in july for me! Semper
  12. Thanx Brian, I think I'll give it until mid to late July and sit down with Navy Federal on their Homeowner's Choice. I've had maybe seven loans and a credit card with them over the past 20 years and my credit record with them is near perfect. That's gotta amount to something. Semper
  13. I remember when you couldn't join unless you were overseas. I tried to join back in the mid 80's in Hawaii, but was told I had to join from overseas. When I deployed to Japan, I joined there and have been a member ever since. Things have changed a bit though.
  14. Oh, I wasn't talking about not acknowledging a debt on an application. I meant that if it doesn't show and affect your scores, then fine. It's not my responsibility to report to the bureaus. Someplaces approve you for credit (not mortgages) based on score alone. BTW, Semper Fi brother! I was at Kaneohe Bay Hawaii with VMFA-212 during that time. I spent a combined 12 years of my career in Hawaii and the last two at Cherry Pont.
  15. I could really kick myself for being stupid because I had a 6.25 with Wells Fargo and lost it out of fear. I was ready to retire from the Marine Corps and had my retirement date all set, but Uncle Sam saw fit to get one more Iraq tour out of me before retirement. I got two weeks notice and spent nearly all of 2006 over there with no way to look for a job or get ready to step out of the door. I got back and retired in January 2007 and out of sheer necessity took a job that amounted to a 50% pay cut from my military pay and allowances. To stay afloat we wound up maxing out our credit cards while I continued to look for a better paying job. At the end of the credit we figured we'd do a cash out refinance and pay down/off the credit cards. Due to high utilization we got a subprime ARM via Fremont that was subsequently transferred to NationStar. It took us much longer than expected for our credit scores to recover. Between June and July 0f 2007 my wife and I both found better jobs that nearly tripled our household income at the same time Fremont transferred the account to NationStar. In September NationStar suddenly started reporting us 30 days late, and the fight was on ending with us refinancing again with Beneficial for a high but fixed rate. Now we make plenty of money to pay all our bills including this ridiculously high mortgage payment with Beneficial, but want to get the lower rate we truly deserve. I had a few late credit card payments to BOA while I was deployed to Iraq and other than those my 17 page 3-bureau credit report looks great. If NationStar would delete these false lates, and BOA grant my request to delete lates due to military deployment/hardship, my credit would be a fabulous sea of green. Semper
