She's an amazing woman who survived this horrific ordeal and escaped the woman-hating culture to which she was born. That something "traditional" or otherwise has been done in the past in no way makes it "right" or "acceptable" in the present or future. Unless you think that genocide and slavery are "right" and "acceptable" you've got a real bad blind spot there. Brutality and oppression aren't evils that only exist between different races. They're evils that exist between different genders, social, economic and other "differences" too. The evil is inherent in the pain and destruction caused. Whether anyone inside or outside the group approves or disapproves of it. That some people think it's "right" to mutilate and brutalize others doesn't make it "right". It only makes it "accepted". When anyone, male, female, of any age, race, class, etc is subjected to mutilation, torment, and oppression because they are powerless to choose otherwise, it's WRONG. And FMG isn't the equivalent of male circumcision. It's more like jewels removal - on an unwilling, unanesthetized, helpless human being.

By this way of thinking, all forms of abuse of women, children, foreigners, whatever, would be perfectly OK because it's "what they believe." Look at those who think women who aren't wearing veils are "meat" and should be raped. Look at those who think anyone who doesn't believe the way they do should be enslaved or killed. Look at the gang members who believe it's cool to go out and kill someone as part of their initiation into a gang. Race card my flowers. That's pure stupidity. What kind of person would sit in silence with helpless children being brutally mutilated because it's "what their parents believe"? The same kind of person who wouldn't speak out against the Holocaust or slavery, that's what.

True..but can gurantee media focus will be on FGM I agree that's what's going to happen. And maybe it needs to anyway, in order to prevent this horrific practice from becoming "religiously, culturally, or socially acceptable" here.

From what's written about this trial, it doesn't look like the legality of FMG is being debated. The question seems to be whether the father is the one who committed the crime or not.

Has nothing to do with religion whatsoever. They do it so the female will not experience any sexual pleasure and it guarantees she never to cheat. It is done solely for the male. Cellphones don't repeat the mouthpiece pickup back to the earpiece like landline phones do so the earpiece thing doesn't record two-way on cell phones. You have to get this thing for cell phones: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=search It's a bit pricey for what it does, but it does work great on any phone that has a headset jack, so I use it with my headset on my landline phone as well. The only complaint I have other than the price is there's about 36" of wire on each end of this thing, so you end up in a tangled mess between it and your headset. God forbid you need to have your phone connected to the charger at the same time! Obviously they're full of carp. They're violating the law all over the place. Your task now is to document it so you can PROVE it. Sit down ASAP, go thru your caller ID, cell phone history, etc, and make a log of every time they've called. Make notes of what was said in each call, if you haven't already. Be careful to note times and dates on everything. Make a special note about the passing of the 5th day after their first call, stating that you still had not received anything in the mail from them by that date. Keep every message they leave. EVIDENCE IS CRITICAL. Study the FDCPA and your state debt collection laws (if there are any) Wisconsin and Texas are both "one party consent" states. Study the info in the thread about CA phone harassment. If you get good recordings of them saying the things they've said so far, they're screwed! The key is, if you record, you say next to nothing, just act scared and confused, and let THEM make all the noise. By law they are to send you written information about the debt and your right to dispute within 5 days of their first contact with you. Wait the 5 days.
