  1. First, let me say that if I have come across as angry or frustrated at anyone here I apologize. I seem to have upset some of you likely due to my frustration with the situation. I am only wanting to be a clear as possible so as to avoid confusion on my part so that I can get the best possible results. My complaints about the CAs and CRAs were again my frustration speaking. I will refrain from venting on here in the future. Now saying that, this is what I have done thus far: 1. I have opted out 2. I have deleted old addresses 3. I have sent initial dispute to CRAs 4. Some lines were deleted but not all. All have had balances lowered, likely due to insurance. I have not paid anything 5. I have NOT sent DVs to the reporting CAs as this is where my confusion began. I was following a different outline than the one posted above and it didn't include the DV as the next step. I was following the instructions at this page, http://whychat.5u.com/hipltr.html, which was an error on my part but was causing my confusion based on my assumptions. At this point, it looks as if my next step is to DV the CA for all lines appearing in my reports, which is the part that was missing from the page I was following, again, my error. I have bookmarked the link WhyChat posted and will follow it going forward. I will be getting the DV letter out tomorrow and will update as soon as I have more information. Thank you all for the help you have provided thus far and again, my apologies for anything I may have done to upset you all. I hope to have good news to post within the next several weeks. Thanks again, Ali
  2. I just pulled the EOB and no, the amounts do not match. I did not send a DV to the CA as that was not one of the steps in the WhyChat protocol, unless I missed it. I started by sending a dispute directly to the CRA. I do not have anything from the CA except several messages on my answering machine. Should I send a DV to the CA?
  3. Thanks. I suppose I should ask then what is the next step? If I shouldn't pay but I requested debt validation from the CRA and got a generic response, where do I go from here? Thanks again!
  4. And now the plot thickens...I contacted the hospital about another balance that isn't past due but just to pay it off. At the end of the conversation I asked what other balances I have. They said none. I asked, if they were sure and she said yes there was no balance for me or any of my family members. I asked about the dates of service the CA was claiming and she said there was no balance as they had all been paid in full by insurance. I told her that a CA called stating I had a balance for that amount and she asked who it was. I told her Fidelity and she said they do not use Fidelity and that I should be suspicious of paying anything from them. I asked her if it was possible if the debt had been sold to Fidelity and she said none of my amounts had ever been written off or sold. I'm so frustrated and confused. I'm certainly not paying anything at this point. If I owe it, I'll be happy to pay it but now it seems as if there may even be some fraud involved here. The next step was to pay but now I guess I go back to the CRA and dig in a little deeper. Any advice???
  5. After the call I received, before starting this process, they sent me a letter stating that since I didn't pay on the phone they were referring the debt back to the OC for them to begin wage garnishment process against me.
  6. Ah, sorry I missed that. The original date of service for both was 05/06/2013.
  7. Alrighty folks, here's my latest update... Experian finally responded with a letter stating that one of the collections accounts were deleted but the other three were confirmed. they included this statement for each line... "IF ACCOUNT WAS OPENED AS A RESULT OF IDENTITY THEFT, THE CREDIT GRANTOR MAY NOT KNOW HOW TO CONTACT YOU TO DISCUSS THIS MATTER. THE CREDIT GRANTOR REQUESTS THAT YOU CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY." TransUnion's response was similar. They deleted one of the three listed accounts and the other two are showing as updated with lower balances. Experian and TransUnion both stated that it is my right to request information on how the investigation was conducted although I requested that information as part of the original dispute; however, neither of them specifically stated that there is a current business relationship between the CA and the OC. Is this an issue? Now, if I understand correctly, the next step is to send the second letter directly to the hospital with payment in a cashier's check from a bank addressed directly to the hospital specifying that the payment may not be transferred as this would be an additional violation. This is easy now that insurance has paid their part. My question now is, once I mail the payment to the hospital along with the letter what can I expect to happen, based on everyone else's experience here? Thanks again! Ali
  8. I would like to add that since I sent the dispute letters in, the knuckleheads at the CA have been blowing up my phone, trying everything they can to get me to talk to them. I guess they know their days are numbered.
  9. Okay, so I have four lines from a CA, Fidelity, on my EXP CR regarding several medical expenses that were held up due to insurance issues. These are from when my wife had our baby so I'm not exactly sure why they're even on my credit. The same CA is reporting three lines on my TU CR. I have initiated the process of following Why Chat's HIPPA dispute and received my initial response from EXP this week. Please note, I used the sample form, printed it out and filled it in EXACTLY as the instructions specified. Here is the non-response I received from EXP: "Dear Alibaba: If you question the results of our dispute process, then you may want to contact the furnished of information directly or review the original information in the public record. Please refer to your original personal credit report for the furnish error public records office name, address, and phone number (if available). Sincerely, Experian" Interestingly, this is the first time I have disputed these particular lines so I am not questioning their dispute process. Since EXP is wanting to be rectal about this at this early in the process, I was wondering what the next step would be as they took quite a while even getting this response to me. Thanks, Ali
  10. Went through TransUnion's automated system today and held for thirty minutes before it cut me off. Never could get through again. It kept wanting me to order a copy of my credit file and because of the fraud alert it said I would have to mail in my request with additional proof that I am who I say I am. That's basically what Experian said also. This is insane!!! I'm a member of all three's credit monitoring services. One would think they would value their customers a little more than this. Fortunately, I was able to get a fax number to send all of my info to for Equifax but this is of no value if I'm continuing to be placed on hold by the other two. Anyone have any info for a backdoor number for TU and EXP??
  11. To date, all the numbers I've called have been recordings or foreigners that don't understand what I'm saying. Any "good numbers" to make the calls?
  12. So, I've been awaiting the results from my Capital One application and I called today to FINALLY get a response that they have been trying to contact me to verify my ID due to an extended fraud alert on my file. I've only called them EVERY DAY since I applied and only now are they telling me they've been trying to contact me. My question is two-fold... What is the quickest, most effect method for changing my contact info? Does this mean they're going to do another Hard Pull on my credit once the info is updated? Thanks so much for your help!!!
  13. Does anyone here know the CapOne backdoor number?
