  1. We were able to get pre-qualified. We didn't even know about the tax transcript problem until about 4 days before closing. We had assumed because we hand delivered the taxes four weeks before that it would of been processed by now. After all how many are they processing in December. Luckily are sellers were really cool and helpful.
  2. First let me thank everyone on this board. The tips and tricks I have gotten for cleaning up my credit report were invaluable. My wife and I closed on our house today. It has been a journey. We put our offer in on December 11, 2012. Originally we were supposed to close on January 15, 2013, but had a problem getting a tax transcript. So after a few weeks of calling the IRS over and over again we got the form last week and got our clear to close on the same day. The best part of the process was our appraisal came in 21k below our offer price. The seller accepted the new terms, yay for us. Just a few tips that could help others. 1.) I recommend getting a copy of your last two year tax transcripts from the IRS, they are free to order. Once you get them make sure all the numbers match your return. Also if you need to file a return, the IRS can take up to 6-8 weeks to process it and get a transcript ready (our problem was that. My wife had not filed her 2010 taxes). 2.) Have some extra cash on hand, moving is expensive. The numbers given to you are estimates that can change a little. Lucky for us, they were over about $1,300, 3.) Before you begin the process make sure you have everything in order all your documents scanned in and ready to send out at a moments notice. Thanks everyone...
  3. I had a collections on my report from AFNI for a Direct TV account. I had every intention of paying the account, although since I wanted to buy a house soon I didn't want it to appear on my CR. I tried every thing I could read to get them to do a PFD. Never a positive response. Then about 30 days ago as I was making my daily pull I noticed that I had no collections on my report. Yay, AFNI had removed themselves before I paid. I immediately called up DirectTV, they had gotten the account back from AFNI. They then offered to not send it to another collections company if I could pay 75% of the amount owed. Felt like a win, I hated dealing with AFNI.
  4. I am very happy, started pulling the good three about 30 days ago. So far in the last few days I have gone from 20 inquiries to 6, I am hoping two more days to go to 0... thanks for the great thread and tips...

  6. I have two approvals to replace my wifes ailing car. Capital One Auto Finance 24K Max 6.55% Interest Rate USAA Auto Loan 22K Max 6.59% Interest Rate I am leaning towards the USAA Auto Loan as we have a great relationship with them, including our Car Insurance and other products. But have had no experience with Capital One. I am pleased at their Int Rates as I was expecting higher. Score in the 650s with a 5 year old BK. Any suggestion.
  7. Yep, apparently I can't file electronically this year. I have to file a paper return now. I am amazed at this particular scam, I would of never thought about it. But that just goes to show you. I was thinking the frozen credit report more in the fact that someone knows my SS and address.
  8. Got a letter in the mail today from the IRS - They are holding up my tax return... Whoa, I haven't filed my taxes yet this year and i expect to owe a few bucks. Apparently someone filed a return in my name trying to get a $4800 refund. They tried to say that I worked at Kroger and made 17K and had 5k in taxes taken out. Who the hell has 5k in taxes taken out of 17K. Anyway called the IRS, they were pretty awesome. But now I have to go through all kinds of hoops and I can't file my extended return electronically this year. So question, since they are using my SS# should I freeze my credit reports for a bit. I just looked and there is nothing out there that I haven't done. IRS Agent says that this is becoming increasingly more popular of a scam. Be careful out there.
  9. I can look at the address I sent to them later and PM it to you.
  10. Back in January before I had found this wonderful board. I paid Credit Management for a collections account for Comcast that was on my wife's credit report.. Figured she would be stuck with it. However, I decided to write them a very nice letter asking them to remove it if they could. Just stated some small facts that the Comcast bill was from just a few months prior when we moved from Seattle to Baltimore, and that we paid the bill rather promptly. We never got anything back, but I noticed this morning that the Collections has been removed from all three of her reports. Doing a happy jiggy dance. Now if I can get Capital One AF to do a GW and AFNI to do a PDF. I will have everything perfect.
  11. Were you checking your statements each month. It is possible you could of been on one of the Graduated programs that lowers your payments and just pays interest each month. Hence never paying the principle. You need to log into Sallie Mae and see what type of program you were paying under.
  12. Same here, just tried to pull my daily.
  13. Wow, so if you borrow 10k, you would pay back $62,453.16 that is assuming you make every payment on time and don't add additional late fees or interest.
