Update: I got a credit monitoring alert earlier today, they actually did a hard pull on Experian.

To my knowledge you will need a SS (or PIN) number and a U.S. address to get get a U.S. based card. Before my wife was granted permanent residency and still living abroad I looked into that and finally just put her name on my Capital One. Soon after she arrived (a month or two) and had her SS number Capital One gave her a CC on her own merit with a $2,500 CL.

I was at work and a little bored yesterday so I decided to apply for a new card with Union Bank (FNB Omaha), after submitting online I got the "you will be notified by mail" message so I was thinking I was probably not approved. Later that day I checked Equifax to see if they pulled from there and nothing. Today I checked Equifax again and they did do a soft pull sometime yesterday so I went to the First National Bank website to see if I was approved. I saw I was with a $11,700 CL. My highest CL prior to this was with Chase and Discover for $4,000. My EQ score is 710, TU and EX are 735 with no baddies. Been a long road to rebuild my credit but now I can see light again, lol.

Well in a way Discovers advertising worked because you are taking about Discover now and there is a 3 or 4 page thread about the new "IT" card too here on the boards. Thats the name of the game in advertising, get the people talking about your product.

It's a little confusing but I think I am beginning to understand what needs done to do a B* on Equifax. I think I can achieve a B* with what I have but feel better if someone here would confirm it for me. CreditSecure from Amex Equifax Complete Premier Plan Credit Karma Is this enough or do I need to add another daily puller? -
Congratulations on closing First Premier. I closed my accounts with them last week and felt it really good

A few years ago I had two Citi cards, one with a 6,000 CL and another with a 7,500 CL. Three years ago I got behind on the payments (two months) and arranged with Citi to close the accounts and continue to make monthly payments on them which I have done, I never missed a payment and on my credit reports it does not show any missed payments at all, even the two months I missed that got me in this mess. I am able to pay them off in full now and my question is has anybody ever tried to reopen a Citi account after it's been closed? Anyone have advice on what I should try or whom I should try to talk to about this? Thanks.............

After working long and hard to rebuild my credit scores from the upper 500's to the mid 700's I decided it was time to close my two First Premier credit cards. First Premier makes nothing easy, the customer service rep who tried to convince me to keep the cards was both rude, demanding and not to mention lied about a bunch of different things about how keeping the cards open would improve my credit score even more. She started her speech as to why I should keep the cards, I said I understand everything and just please cancel the cards and close the accounts. She got angry that I dared interrupt her when making her sell and refused to transfer me to a supervisor when I asked. I let her continue and then told her beside First Premier being sup-prime their customer service was horrible. I feel really good now about never having to deal with them again. Anybody else have stories about First Premiers customer service?

I did the HSBC per-selector one a couple nights ago too, the one that says "There's no risk to your credit score to view the details of the card." I did it out of curiosity mainly just to see what they give me. Today I see they did a hard pull on Equifax that lowered my score by several points. I already have a HSBC credit card so I called customer service and spoke to them, was directed to another customer service number and they basically said sorry nothing they can do about it. I emailed customer service and they responded back telling me to call their customer service line again. Basically I am SOL I think, wasted a hard pull for nothing.

Thanks I will do that.

Up 37 points to 731. Still have a ways to go but it's a good start!
