  1. Well if the bank is 02 and the monitoring is 08, that explains the difference. Still cancelled my monitoring - it's useless to me if it doesn't fit with real world scenarios.
  2. I convinced my lender to share my score. 624 is what they see. Risk 2 is what she says they use. How can they conceivably be that far off? No, a bank.
  3. I need to lurk more and understand what these things are! So the report they send me is of course going to be the higher one, but the bank can use whichever?
  4. I've subscribed to Experian FICO tracking for quite some time now and it always does a very accurate job of picking up things like credit limit changes (I know there before I get the email or mail from my CC). What concerns me is that there's a difference between what they're sending me as my score versus what the bank sees. I had an email from Experian saying I had a new report available. I went and checked it, it showed an increased credit score of 777. Since I'd been wanting to refinance a couple of smaller payments anyway, I emailed my loan officer the following morning and got the process started. I was shocked when she said that my rate was higher because my score went DOWN. I asked what CRA they were using, and she informed me that it was Experian. I screenshotted my report and score and sent it over, and while she couldn't give me my score they were seeing, she said it was 'significantly lower' than what my Experian membership told me. I'm livid because one of two things is true - my bank, who I've been with for two decades, is lying to me - or Experian, who I'm paying to give me accurate information to base my decisions on, is sending me an inflated score to keep my business. Is there any remedy on this? Does someone have to be accountable?
  5. Perhaps they consider it acceptable, but my bank does not. The wording in the first half is so mealy-mouthed, it makes my account which was paid in full (Not settled) well over a year ago look as if there's still payment pending. After a long phone conversation that ended up with a legal rep on the phone with me, this is the ONLY letter they send, they refuse to provide a payment date or date satisfied, and won't budge on it. Just an FYI, if you're looking for a PIF from Verizon now, this is as close as you will get. Oh, and it will take 24-48 hours.
  6. Now that's some useful info! Thank you so much.
  7. OK I just looked up the whychat letter. Makes sense I suppose.
  8. Ok, I had an error when posting a minute ago. The problem seems to be that they applied our check to someone else's account; The account written in on the cashed check did not match the one we'd remitted the check for. So I highly doubt the hospital has been paid. I think they've sent our money elsewhere and expect us to forget about it or pay again. How does hippa come into play?
  9. test
  10. No input on this?
  11. Never thought I'd sign up for a Walmart card. Then I see that it's free Fico. I now have a Walmart card.
  12. Thanks very much for the quick post approval and welcome!
  13. My wife had a medical bill that went into collection with Mercantile Adjustment Bureau in Williamsville (Buffalo) NY. There were actually several small ones and one larger one for $436. We sent in checks to cover each and every one; All the small ones were applied as expected, and we received notice that they were considered paid pending clearing of payment. That was November. I go to check the wife's FICO last month, and pull a report, and the $436 is still hanging. We file a dispute through Experian. About two weeks later I get a letter saying they 'validated' it but weren't able to complete their investigation. Wait, what? How do you validate something without being able to investigate? Things start to get heated here. We obtain copy of cancelled check, the CMRR stub signed by their rep, and fax it to them. 'Todd' the supervisor says he will take care of it. Apparently he took care of it by sending it to their 'Compliance Division' which is unreachable (They don't take calls according to the CSR's answering the phone). I've been hung up on by LaFawnda and Shaniqua trying to get through to someone that will actually talk to us a few times. When asked how long it will take for them to review and provide a receipt of payment, I am told 'Compliance can take as long as they want and there is nothing you can do about it'. Getting very frustrated here. We're on the verge of decent clean credit after several years of being on the short side and this is one of the biggest stumbling blocks. I've tried everything, even found the name of their director of compliance and sent faxes to his attention, nothing. They hang up on me almost immediately if I call. What's next? Lawyer up? Drive there (They're local) and make a scene? Be prepared to continue disputing with all three CRA's monthly until they finally give up?
  14. <---New guy here. Had a bad run, finally got it all paid off, now I am here to try to clean up the paper a bit. Glad this place exists!
