  1. Yeah I didn't get one either
  2. Wondering whether I should shoot for a lower credit limit like $30k or $40k and then slowly try and get credit limit increases.
  3. Me too I get free FICO with only checking account, I have no CC or ACH xfers. Though having said that I have received this months FICO score yet...
  4. So i get a little confused with these rate structures. If I have $1000 deposited does it mean the first $500 will always accumulate 3% or 6.99% and the remaining $500 gets the 0.05% or does it mean my interest rate for the whole $1000 will be 0.05%?
  5. Man I am itching for the VISA Elite app…but I think Ill chicken out in the corner until someone else applies.
  6. Mine bizarrely took 1-2 weeks, I ended up calling them after a week
  7. Word of warning to anyone who tried to grandfather in to keep the Penfed 5% cash back for gas, make sure you contact Penfed to ensure you still kept your 5%. I opened the checking account and filled the direct deposit criteria. When I emailed them to make sure I had done everything they emailed me back saying they had made a mistake and dropped me down to 3%. They fixed it pretty quickly but I would urge anyone who tried to do this to make sure they didn't drop your % cash back.
  8. I tried for this today, got the dreaded it'll take 10 days. Maybe I should have stayed away, oh well
  9. So what is B*?
  10. What was the reason it was backdated. Was it because it took them a long time to verify the reason for forbearance. I know the first year of deferment I qualified for economic hardship but it took some time for them to get paperwork verified but they were able to backdate it from when I first applied as opposed to when it was verified. If thats the case you could get a letter from you loan company or at least something from them verifying that you are in deferment since XX date. You could then dispute with the CRAs IN WRITING for never paid late and then send as proof a copy of your loan company's letter saying you were in forbearance.
  11. I talked to the wrong people in my loan company about the loan. Apparently one division does the main student loan stuff and another division does the Perkins Loans, essentially the right never saw what the left hand was doing. The letter to the CEO is what Im guessing helped. I got 2 responses from my letter one that basically said too bad and a second that came letter saying oh yes it is an error we will reverse this.
  12. This is my letter, it is nothing special at all, I think it helped that my loan company were nice, I addressed this to the CEO of my student loan company: Dear Mr. CEO, My name is momoneyg08 and I currently hold loans withXXXX Student Loans, I have enquired several times about an inaccuratereporting of one of my student loans. I have attached a copy of my credit reportthat incorrectly displays late payments. This has been verified as inaccurateby XXXXX Student Loans as I was in deferment during the late payment datesof XXX 20XX, and XX, XX, XX 20XX. The reporting of these inaccurate lates, have severely affected my credit report and scores, which otherwise would show no delinquencies. I filed a dispute with the credit agencies and Equifax hasreported back that you verified that these late payments are reported correctly.I have also sent disputes to Transunion and Experian; I am concerned that thesewill also be reported as confirmed lates. After calling the credit bureaus they now require me to senda letter from you directly to them as part of a re-investigation process. Icalled several weeks ago to obtain such a letter and I was told one would be sent. I then received a letterwhich was akin to a receipt and not the letter I requested. The letter stated‘you made a recent payment on XX date and your next loan payment is due in 2013’. I again respectfully request a letter that states I am currentwith payments and the lates reported for XX, XX, XX, XX are in error. Once I receive this letter I can send this to thecredit bureau for them to re-investigate and contact you directly. I would bevery grateful if I could receive this letter as soon as possible, I originallycontacted XXX Student Loans during the months of January and Februaryvia email and phone calls. Thanking you. Sincerely, Momoneyg08
  13. My situation: Was checking over my credit report when I found there were a few >90 day late payments noted on one of my loans that I had paid off in 2010, that reported for 2009 and 2010. Weird as I had applied and received deferment for all of my loans. So I decided to contest this:- 1) FIRST ROUND So I called my loan company to verify if these were late payments, they said they had no record of any late payments from me, I even gave them the account number for the late payment account from my credit report. They said they could even find that account number and regardless they have shown on time payments on all my loans. They advised me to contest it with the CRA and said they would wait for the CRAs to report to them so they could respond in the dispute. I also luckily had a few statements which showed, due to my deferment, my loan payments weren't due until 2011. i sent a letter to my loan agency just restating in writing that I was never late and I was always in deferment. I contested the account as 'not mine' with the CRAs. They came back with "Verified as your accounts". 2) SECOND ROUND So I again contacted my loan company, spoke to the same person who said they had not received anything from the CRAs and they were still waiting for the CRAs to contact them. This time I called the CRAs using the backdoor numbers and told them my loan company was waiting for them to contact them. So they said they would reinvestigate, the CRAs also wanted me to send a letter from my loan company stating my late payments were in error. I called my loan company and asked them whether they could send me a letter saying I was never late so I could send it to the CRAs. They said they would. In the mean time again the CRAs reported the account as verified. 3) THIRD ROUND Decided OK maybe I should have disputed as never late, this time (after reading the don't dispute online thread) I wrote a letter to the CRAs stating it should be investigated as never late and not wrong account. I get the letter from my loan company which mentions nothing about no late, they just sent me a receipt of my last statement. Again I called my loan company and they said they wouldn't send me a letter they would wait for the CRAs. I then received the CRAs response as later have been verified. 4) FOURTH ROUND So this is almost 2-3 months later, this time I decided to write a letter to the CEO of my loan company and my loan company with a copy of the CRAs response again stating I was in deferment and showing proof of my statements. I received a reply stating that the loan reporting late payment was a Perkins Loan. Even though it was issued under the same loan company apparently it is a different division of the same loan company that handles Perkins as opposed to the regular subsidized, unsubsidized loans. So the letter said it was a valid late because none of the statements they sent are returned as if it was a wrong address and I was never in deferment. So I called my loan company's 1-800 number and they confirmed they were the division who handled the Perkins Loans. Ridiculous, they have the same address but one has a 1800 number the other has a local number. The person on the phone was very nice and said sorry these payments are late, even though I applied for deferment since they were a different division they never received a deferment request. I was a little gobsmacked as I figured now I have to live with this stupid mistake for 5 more years. He then said because of my letter they were investigating it and it was likely they could erase the late payments. I then got a letter last week stating the lates were erroneous and it would take up to 60 days to be removed.
