  1. they do tell you if you've gotten them as I have apparently already used this route. What is the next best option?
  2. to be honest, I am not sure. I don't think I have, but I was considering bankruptcy about 8 months ago, so maybe I did pull them back then. (don't have them anymore) Should I bother with getting stuff off my credit report if I am considering BK still? or should I wait
  3. Hi I was just trying to receive my credit report and wanted to know if it would be ok to purchase the 29.95 equifax 3 in one credit report, or should I buy them separately by writing them.
  4. my father was in the military ( now deceased), would I be eligible?
  5. I lived in Ohio when I bought the car. I bought the car in 2000, it was repo'd in 2000 and judgment in 2001. They didn't collect on the judgment until 2009 because I was in school and never really held a job for more than 6 or 7 months
  6. Hi- I had a question. I had a judgment from Credit Acceptance Corporation for a car loan I had. The judgment was for 3713 +22% interest annum.( i was young, missed court, etc). This debt has swelled to 13567 dollars now. I have paid 5500 through wage garnishments with 7500 left. They want 4500 dollars to settle the case. I have been researching and I can't find anywhere about the max interest one can charge. I have saw anywhere from 8% annum, down to 5%. 22% seems extremely high. I am assuming that was in my "contract", but I was 18 when I got my first car from a used dealer and was so happy to get on my own, I didn't even look at it when signing. Is there anywhere I can find if what am I being charged is legal?
  7. exactly, I never needed that much nor did I take out that much. I utilized a pell grant and stafford loan (which is almost paid back) to fund my education these were not a parent plus loans, from what I can tell is they were chase private loans. http://www.chasestudentloans.com/ I just wonder why they're not showing up as student loans on my credit report like the other ones are and if these are technically private loans that can be discharged in BK since apparently you can use these loans for anything (car, laptop, housing, etc) I know I have 2 routes, 1) filing for bk if possible or 2) trying to fight and ID theft charge when the person who would be the suspect has passed away. I can't figure out which would be the best route
  8. I have 3 lines on my credit report from MRS BPO stating 27,XXX - 26,XXX and 10, XXX. I have been told this is for student loans, but i cant tell since the credit report doesn't state what type of debt it is. I went to a community college, so i never took out that much debt 1) my father appears to be the consigner, but I believe he may have used my information after the 10k loan in order to take out more loans in my name, which he blew through them 2) they're wrong about the information and tied my name into someone else I can provide a screen shot of the experian report if needed I know if I am a victim of ID theft, I can file a police report. The issue is, I did have the one 10k loan, but the other larger amounts were not for me. My dad passed away 5 years ago , so I am not able to confront him about it. I know it will look suspicious also. I want to know if there is any legit chance of getting these discharged in BK. Right now, after all my current garnishments/judgements/child support, I am barely living and often spend weeks at a time homeless to ensure all my bills are paid. I have been climbing an uphill battle, but have reduced my debt significantly over the past several months. They have never contacted me once on my default status, stopped paying on them in 2007. I live in PA. any help is appreciated
  9. I am assuming it is private. It would have been through Chase bank. I will ask the question there (or can a mod move it?) thanks I suggest running the threads simultaneously since the credit forum is the place for reporting questions. what paperwork, if any, do you have from the loan? to be honest, I don't have any type of paperwork, my schooling was about 6 years ago (when i was finished) I was never contacted, sued, harassed, or anything regarding this debt. In fact, I had a chase bank account (business and personal) up until around 2010 and no one ever mentioned it, nor did it come up on my list of accounts. I wasn't aware of any of this until i started looking at my credit report and saw this on it Is it wise to provide a screen shot?

  14. thanks for the boards. they are very helpful. A lot to read as you're trying to learn
  15. Hi- Not sure if this is in the correct area or not, but I have recently began to try and repair my credit and I am going through my credit report one of the biggest things that I am trying to overcome is a default judgement from credit acceptance corporation the judgement was entered on jan 2002. Due to not working , being in school and etc, they were not able to garnish my wages, nor did i pay on it. I finally got a job and have kept the job long term. They started garnishing my wages 2 years ago. Original debt - 3937 Debt when they started garnishing my wages 13,xxxx. So far I have paid down 5000 of that over the past 2 years. I tried to negotiate a settlement, but they would not accept anything lower than 5000 additional dollars. My question is , from what I've read on the boards, that the maximum interest allowed is 12% for Ohio my judgement states that they are able to charge me 22% PER ANNUM " DEFAULT JMT ENTRY FILED FOR PLTF IN SUM OF $3938.17 PLUS COSTS AND INTEREST OF22 % PER JUDGE" (this is exactly what I took off the ohio case site) 1) was my judgement illegal? 2) Does anyone have any negotiating tactics to get this taken care of. I understand paying a premium due to me being a bad recipient of the car loan, but to pay TRIPLE of the original debt just seems crazy to me my other option is BK, but i have less than 15 unsecured debt so I don't think it would be worth it
