I honestly do not think there is any way possible this is going to happen for your friend in that time frame.

Thanks for the help to the both of you. I just wasn't sure how much info I should be giving up here. I have worked way too hard to repair my credit to let something ignorant like this end up on it.

The BBB should get you results on this if not follow thru with the 2 you have suggested and the CFPB. If the CA starts reporting same strategy against them. So do you think I should just reply to the dunning letter with a simple DV then? I want to make sure this doesn't end up on any of my reports.

Long story short I signed up for Direct TV in Oct of 13 was offered package deal from then to include internet through Century Link. The guy on phone was unsure of the internet speeds but assured me my satisfaction was guaranteed so I had nothing to lose. I went ahead and did it. Took a while for them to hook it up to the house. Then I got a self install package not long after that. I tried getting it to work and it literally did nothing. I tried a few times and decided I just wanted to stick with the internet I already had. I used their return label to send the stuff back. I figure all is good and I get a bill for the internet I was not nor had ever used and a land line. I never agreed or asked for a land line. I sent a CM letter telling them this they don't reply. Then a month goes by and I get a letter from their in house collections. Send another certified letter to the new address. Once again I was ignored. At this time I think it was a billing error and all is straight. Nope! I get a call from their final billing dept wanting me to pay 369 for services I never used. I explained the story to lady on phone she says ok we will put this in dispute. I figured I would be hearing from them soon. Last week I get a call from Audit Systems Inc out of FL calling to collect for Century Link. I told her to send me something in the mail. I have now got the letter and I don't know if I should just send a simple dispute saying I dispute this debt or a more detailed one Including all of these steps. Yesterday I filed a complaint against Century Link with the BBB. I do not know if that is going to do any good but I figured it was worth a shot. I was also thinking about maybe the Public Utilities Commissions and the AG of Tennessee might be a good place to go too. I have no intentions of paying almost 400 for services I never used. I just want to make sure my credit is protected here.
