I had a collection agency call me telling me I owe money for a student loan that my ex wife took out (supposedly). I did a little research and found out it was a Sallie Mae student loan. Well the loan was taken out while I was deployed to Iraq. After talking to my ex she says she doesn't remember taking out a loan or signing my name. I know I didn't sign anything since I was deployed. I called Sallie Mae to get a copy of the paperwork with my name on it, but they haven't sent me a copy. I also asked the collection agency about sending me a copy. I was informed by the collection agency that I would need to file a police report against my ex wife. I don't plan on doing that cause that's my exwife and we have no issues. Do I have any other options. The collection agency aslo said they would garnish my wages. I've never received a formal letter stating I what or who I owe anything.
