    How many?

In the begining I thought the more the better. Now I have 35 to 40 and have managed them quite well with usage and payments.I have a mix of major and store cards. However I can not get a CLI on any of them and have started to think it may be because I have so many In my opinion, trim it down. I would get rid of all the store cards (except Macys if you shop there), and get rid of all non major brands besides the popular CU's. Amex, Chase, Citi, Discover, US Bank, USAA, (NFCU AND PSECU IF YOU CAN), and a BOFA or Wells. After that you are just playing with yourself

Is there any good reason to opt in? If so how would I do that?

    AU question

I know closing cards can hurt your score, but does being taken off as an AU hurt your score? My son is trying to buy a home,His dad is a AU on a few of my cards but they are showing up on my sons CR.Two of them have high utilization and I can't afford to pay them down enough right now to help his score. The real estate agent helping him said he needed the cards to show he has established credit. My thought was to remove him from the two with high utilization, then add him to a couple with high CLs and no balance.Does anyone know if this would work or would taking him off the two hurt his score?
  14. NO!! This is my first thread on this subject....as far as switching. You are welcometo goback and read my threads.I can guarantee there is no others about trading cards. But thanks somuch foryour usful advice about addingto one instead of starting another,I'll keep that in mind if a question is not "answered to my satisfaction.
  15. Ok,this sounds crazy and probably is but does anyone know if a company will let you switch cards? I applied for a home depot card and was denied because I had too many recent apps.I have a gordons card (I know both are citi) which I never use.I could really use the hme depot as we are in the middle of a hugh remodel. So does anyone know if they would let me trade in the gordons for a home depot?
