Teach your kids at an early age about credit and how to use it wisely. You can also add them as authorized users to some of your credit accounts, passing on your good score and giving them a headstart on theirs.

My son just got the letter from them on 2/11. He apped, got approved for 1900, same terms as yourself. Email came today saying the card was on the way.

I said this isn't personal to Bob. Bob may be the most honest person on the planet, but this isn't about him. I'm not discussing him. As far as your ex,, like I tell my kids, there's lots of people out there who can take advantage of you every day (ex; your CSRs) and you can't always avoid dealing with them, but that doesn't mean you recklesslygo ahead and take candy from a stranger or go hitchhike. There's a huge difference between trusting your personal info w someone at Experian, for ex, and some stranger on the internet you've never met. The reason I posted is this board is for people to come and seek help and good info. People may well be researching this and come across this thread, so someone needed to point out it is a basic precaution: It is NEVER a good idea to give your personal info to strangers on the Internet. NEVER. You're all adults. You weigh your decisions and do what you want, but let's not pretend this is a universally brilliant idea that doesn't come w risks-giving out personal info to strangers. Seriously. I can't believe people would argue over something like this.

Actually, I think you're dead-on- the real issue here seems to be the FIL doesn't trust the OP with his credit, instead of just him not understanding how AUs work. (And were I OP, I don't think I'd give him more fodder by revealing they turned over their SS# and DOB to someone they met on the internet in desperation to raise their score.) OP might be better served by showing FIL that they can be financially responsible and trustworthy than finding a new spouse, though. Maybe the first step should be paying down that high util, etc. instead of risking identity theft. That would raise your score.

Stranger? No. This is Bob Wang, the AU king. He's still a stranger on the Internet. But this isn't personal to Bob or about Bob. Bob may well have been responsible w everyone he's added as an AU up to now. But this is a board where people come for help and good financial info, and it is NEVER a good idea to hand your social security # and DOB to a complete stranger on the Internet. Never. Oh hell, even to someone you think you know. So much can go wrong. Most people who've been scammed went into it thinking I really don't believe I can trust this person and I really think they're going to do something bad but I'm going for it anyway. No. They don't. They trust the wrong people and get screwed over. As FrugalFinance said, it is NOT safe to hand your personal info over to some stranger.

We had a very similar situation, right down to the one pair of shoes, but we limped along (we also didn't qualify for Medicaid or SSI) until our son was over 18. Then we filed BK7. At 18, our son became eligible for Medicaid and SSI on his own (our ins is still his primary, but it covers whatever ours doesn't.) It's not a lot, but it helps. The relief was unbelievable. We rebuilt quickly, and in the 4 yrs since have bought a new home, have all new prime cards, scores in the mid-700s and a clean credit report. And I wish we'd filed right before he'd turned 18, and not waited until after. But we couldn't any time before then. Or we could, but it would have been pointless. The bills for him that we were responsible for wouldn't stop until he was 18, and we couldn't foresee what might be coming. We wiped out savings, everything, but it's not like we had lots of choices. There was no help avail until he was 18. So, I guess my point is, if you're sure the crisis is past I'd consider filing as an option. But in our case, there was enough of a chance that there was going to continue to be financial issues, so we held off taking that route as long as we could. Good luck, however you go.

We don't know if anyone who has ever posted here has ever truly rec'd any loan, FICO or no FICO. Not without their true identities and financial records. This is the interwebs, after all. So, in truth, nothing is flying anywhere any which way with anyone. Congrats to OP on his new home.

I app'd mid-Aug. EQ was 724. BK 7 in 08. I joined first, then the page timed out. I waited, got my hi new member letter within 3 days but no pin. Called, they sent that out a few days later. App'd for the card, got 7500 instant approval. Never had to provide anything. So far I'm happy.

We did. We got about $7900. It didn't add any extra time at all, and we didn't need to attend any classes. On one hand, I'm glad we went w it. It got us in the house almost cash-free. It was a foreclosure, so this allowed us to use our own money to do repairs. On the other hand. Here's what I wish I knew ahead of time: In our case, it's forgiven in 4 yrs if we don't sell. Great. Only it's considered a second mortgage, so no helocs or home equity loans while it's reporting, and it does report on our CRs. And if we sell or refinance before the 4 yrs, we have to pay it back in full, and may owe taxes on it. It's an issue right now because our house still needs work, we have almost 100k in equity now (appraisal was $297k, loan was 200k), and we're stuck in an FHA loan w PMI. Our broker is running the numbers for us, but it looks like we might be refinancing and paying it back. Of course, this spring our state changed the program so now the grant is forgiven in stages (25% per yr up to the 4th yr) instead of making people wait for the 4 yrs. Grrrrr. So, I guess what I'm saying is make you sure your rec and understand all the details of the grant and if it'll be worth it long term for you.

Sean Garrett is being sued for not paying his American Express bill.

Um, my 21 yr old son has an album by him, against my wishes, and he's a producer and singer/songwriter/rapper. Unless there's more than one Sean Garrett. -
They're there to allow the steam to escape during the baking process. Doing so makes them flat. If you didn't they would be puffy. It's the same w a pie crust. You prick the bottom and blind bake it w weight so it won't crack and be flat.

Got Approved for Barclays Rewards World Mastercard!!!!
twizzle replied to Ron1's topic in Credit Forum
Yes. It's a Barclaycard Rewards. It was our first rewards card after a BK in 08. As I said, at first it only allowed full redemptions. Not a huge issue, we'd just run out and grab a tank of gas for the point amt if we didn't have any charges at that time. It was worth it to have a no-fee rewards then. But then one day I logged on and it had changed. I then had the option for partial redemption as well, which is great. Since then we've gotten better reward cards and it isn't our go-to, but it's been a good and generous card. We use it for utilities and sometimes gas. No idea why our card allows it and yours doesn't, however?
