  1. Thanks everyone. I'm actually asking for a family member, I opened a savings account with PenFed a few months ago hoping for a pre-approval and was surprised at how badly I was treated ( 1,000 restrictions on a savings account lol ) All I have is a 6 and a half year old medical bill, 0 inquiries and two CC's paid never late ( 0% utilization when I apped ) Was pretty surprised but I'll just see what happens. I think I will recommend to my family member that they hold off until the BK is off to be safe, PenFed seems a bit jumpy about everything.
  2. @ virtualtreasure Thanks for the info. Good to know that they don't outright deny due to BK.
  3. If you have a BK will Penfed still ( possibly ) offer a pre-approval? thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks everybody for the responses. I only have CCMP and the "My Offers" section is empty. Do I need ( or would it help ) to open a checking/savings? No hard pulls for those correct?
  5. I currently use USAA for the credit monitoring service and B*. Does USAA offer pre-approvals? If so are they true pre-approvals such as PenFed? ( I just opened a savings account with them but I know its not guaranteed ) Is a savings account enough to get one?
  6. You should get an unlisted phone number.
  7. Search CB for "jack attack", looks like that might work to get it completely deleted.
  8. I'm surprised that Michigan has a 6 year SOL on open accounts, that seems really long. I burned BOA for $900.00 back in 2010 ( ) and my SOL is up next year was my reason for asking how much you owed. I'm not an expert on the matter, hopefully one of the leads/mods will chime in after I bumped your thread a few times. Best of luck to you.
  9. How much was this for out of curiosity?
  10. No mention of B*
  11. No problem, make sure to send it certified mail. Absolutely pay Cap 1 direct if you can, funding / supporting these parasites is never a good idea. If I was in your situation I would send a DV letter with a limited cease and desist by certified mail to the collection agency. As its Cap1 I would make sure to have the money available if they decide to sue later on ( If they won't accept payment from you now or if you can't pay now )
  12. I can't answer all your questions but I will say NEVER talk to a collection agency over the phone ( Aside from them being rude scumbags ) nothing good will come from it, always keep everything in writing. Also, CAP1 is known for suing EVERYBODY so be careful how you handle this. I would start out by sending a limited cease and desist to the collection agency to get the calls to stop.
  13. Stuck for 11 months, USAA scores are pretty much worthless. Good for checking all 3 reports though.
