You can ask her to add you as a joint user and it will report and also will look better on your report than just an Authorized User. Just make sure there are no late payments and the balance is not high

next day decision for me

EX according to credit sesame is 798. Last month's Real ficos from a mortgage pull are in 770-780s, I have new inquiries and accounts though.
-
UPDATE: Was approved for a 10k ACU Visa. Will also apply for their LOC as soon as I receive my membership package (they asked for documentation to join). Was denied for NASA Visa. Reason given - too much available credit and too many inquiries (7 between EX and EQ they pulled for membership and Visa application)

Have Good Credit - Now Want Good Cards w/ High Limits
colorado_guy replied to beekrock's topic in Credit Forum
You only pay 15$ once. If you have family members who want to join any CU you are a member of (including PenFed) they can join through you and will not have to join any organizations. But you probably know that:) -

Do you mean that I should join the credit union and then wait for offers, or should I join and then apply for a card? Is there a minimum balance that you need to keep in your account? I would just join and apply for both CC and PLOC. You can get into PenFed by joining Voices of Troops on their website during the application process. American Consumer Council will get you into others. As far as "Platinum" goes I would just apply for the cards that have rewards that fit you best. For instance PenFed Amex for travel, Promise for BTs and cash withdrawals or if you want a good gas card apply for their 5% cash back on gas Visa. -

Try CUs Like PenFed, SDFCU or others. If you qualify for NFCU - even better. They may grant you high limits (regardless of your current credit limits) and the APR will be low for your scores. No cash advance fees and you can advance the whole line. You can apply for LOCs with the same banks at the same time. See what your local CUs can do for you. If you just want a high line and do not care to much about APR apply for USAA, will most likely get you 12-20k. If you transfer to your savings - no advance fees. APR may be pretty high though. Again as mentioned above, by no means rely on cash advances or credit card funds. Just feels nice to have lines available for you. -
The Master Credit Score Mad Scientist Thread

1. Apply with NFCU for a different product. They may approve a good line. If they pulled TU for a CC they will most likely pull a different bureau (EQ) for NavCheck 2. Visit some local CUs. You will be surprised how many of their credit analysts cannot read the AU coding ("A" for primary account, "B" for joint and "C" for AU) on the mortgage-style reports they pull and go with just the scores and income for determining the CL -
Why would you stay away from Alliant? They define the phrase "best deposit account out there". Poor customer service, rather subprime credit products (with the exception of car loans but you can get that at any other of the above mentioned CUs), rough joining process. But this is just my personal opinion, some people especially those rebuilding like the CU. I just think the other CUs the OP mentioned deserve much more attention. I've been member for over 2 years. While I agree with you that their CC products suck, I have had fantastic customer service. No one beats them as an ACH hub, next day free pulls and pushes up to $100k per day. Very high APY for checking and savings (in today's market). Remote scan deposit (they are working on a mobile deposit). HUGE ATM network. If OP wants only CU's for credit products then yes, I would avoid Alliant. But there is more to a healthy CU portfolio then just credit. Agreed. I have not had any good customer service experience with them though. Yes, if he needs to park money in the checking/savings account Alliant will work. I would prefer to build relationship with a CU that will ofer me good credit products CCs/LOCs AND have good checking/savings products and knowledgeable staff. Sounds like they didn't give you a high limit CC or denied you? No, just never bothered to apply. No need in the card I will not use anyway

Financing a car with a salvage title?

Thank you MarvBear. Can we close the thread? -
Sorry, I did not realize your goal was to get memberships. My previous post was in regards to applying for CCs, so disregard. Membership apps will just depend on what is currently on your chex and I would apply in the order importance of getting in - the most important CUs first. Again, Navy, USAA and PSECU should not care too much about your new inquiries and I would just keep away from Alliant

Let's vote if EvoX: 1. Has a life and is just very bored and trying to post unnecessary and rude comments. 2. Does not have a life and is just very bored and trying to post rude and unnecessary comments. For those interested. Yes I have a lot of friends. One of them is buying cars on auctions, fixes them and sells them to make profit. He owns a small dealership/repair shop. I have bought cars from him in past. Our other common friend just bought and fixed a Lexus through him from an auction (copart). I know a lot more about credit then they do so I was helping him to get financing (he had to pay cash at the auction). Got good luck with DCU thanks for your advise. Financed whole 16k. Thanks everyone for their help, mods please close the thread. -
I would do: PenFed (very inquiry sensitive) (EQ) NASA (somewhat inquiry sensitive, at least for me it was) (EQ- membership, EX for credit) Not sure about DCU (EQ) Associated, USAA (EQ, looks like they are not too sensitive to new inquiries, at least for me) PSECU (EX) and NFCU (EQ or TU) will most likely not care too much about those inquiries from above and even if they affect the initial CL will increase in no time in 6 months. If you want you can freeze EQ, NFCU will pull TU. I would not recommend Alliant (EQ) but if you want it I would do it in the end... waste of time IMHO compared to above mentioned CUs Hope this helps
