  1. No stations in the town I live in are out of gas. Prices have gone way up. Was $2.56 a week and a half to two weeks ago. Now it's $3.09-$3.16, except at 2 stations at $2.99. The one station has old pumps and the pumps won't go higher then $2.999 (reg, super, and prem are all $2.999). The other station always matches the price of the lowest station in town. Not sure what they are paying for the gas, I know before they priced it 5 cents higher then they paid (or so they said). It's a small private owned gas station, as long as he can break even on gas, or atleast make up for a small loss on gas with inside sales (old pumps means no pay at the pump, so everyone has to go inside, which means more inside sales) I'm sure he'll ride it out. If he stops selling gas, the other station matching their price will go up, which means the all the other stations will go up (they are always a little higher). Nobody wants to be the first to go down, as soon as one goes down the others will go down. They wait until people get tired of the crap and start filling up in other towns, causing their sales to go down, then they'll lower the price.
  2. We ship packages overnight using UPS. I'm surprized more things don't arrive late. Things will go half way to one coast(in the wrong direction) before they start heading to the other coast where they're suppose to be delivered. Only had one package not make it the next day. It was one of the few times we drove 1/2 an hour to get it to the UPS Customer center (actual UPS site, not just a shipping center) because the truck already made it's round through our town and it had to be there the next day. They refunded the shipping costs. Had another package that was late, they refunded that one too. I think FedEx uses the boxes around here to play tackle football or soccer(why else do you think they're always late?). I refuse to ship FedEx. DHL isn't any better. We have several reptiles so we order crickets. DHL delivered us a stack of empty cricket boxes with a hole in the side. Wonder how long it took them to get rid of a couple thousand loose crickets.
  3. I hate having the whole number printed on the receipt. Not so much because the store has a receipt with the whole number, I know they can get it(when you use pay at the pump, the store prints a list of every cc with all the numbers, that was used), but because what happens if the receipt is lost. I drop mine on the way to the car, the store misplaces their copy. Someone could find it and have my cc number. I know I won't have to pay it, but it'd be a pain to go through and figure out what charges weren't mine and if it was my bank card, deal with things bouncing when they go on a shopping spree, having to get a new card, changing the automatic payments, etc. I worked at a gas station that was robbed, the safe was broken into after close. They only printed the last 4 numbers. If they printed the whole number the people that robbed them would of had everyones cc #'s, and name(printed under the signature line). So all they would of had to do is look the names up in the phone book (small town) and get the address. If the machine messed up, paper jam, ran out of paper, or something. When you reprinted the receipt it would have the whole cc #, I would always black it out on both copies before I had them sign.
  4. Fabric softner and water works really good (except when the salamanders put the dryway up the wrong way and put wallpaper directly on the paper backing of the drywall , they also used roofing nails to put it up but that's another story). Try peeling off what you can get. Check the cornners and seams, usually something is lose and you might get lucky and you can peel off most of the top layer. Then score where the top layer didn't come off and wet everything down( I used a bucked and sponges), the glue and paper should scrap right off. I had a few spots that didn't want to come off so I took a sponge, wet it and stuck it to the wall. When I was done with the next section I took the sponge off and the glue came right off. It gets messy and you'll have little pices of wallpaper stuck all over. If you have carpet of worried about the floor make sure you cover it with plastic/newspaper and have rags along the bottom of the wall to catch any water that drips down the wall. Don't want to have to be cleaning wallpaper glue out of the carpet.
  5. I've bought a few refurbished things. Bought a $300 KitchenAid mixer for a little over $100, an $800 camera for a few hundred, and a few other things. Most refurbished items have a shorter warranty (something to keep in mind) and might not come with the extras, but if I'm saving close to $500 on a camera I think I can handle buying a camera bag and battery chager.
  6. We want to build a house, hope to have everything ready to go so we can start building in April maybe March (if the ground isn't still frozen). Our scores are all around 720. The house+lot would cost us about double our gross income to build. We want to do it with nothing down. If we have to we could do about 15% down using the equity in this house, but we can't sell it until we're done with the new house. Renting for a while isn't an option, anything over 2 bedrooms gets turned into apartments ( 3 bedrooms would be really tight and the kids would be sharing a room) and no large dogs. We would like to use the money from selling this house to pay off all our debt and buy furniture, shed and other stuff for the new house. How hard will it be to get a loan? We'll have a lot of sweat equity in the house we build. DH built houses for years. We plan on doing a good portion of the work ourselves. We'll frame it, set the windows, lay the flooring, roofing, finished plumbing and elec. (have someone else do the rough ins), and painting the inside. We have several friends and family members that said they'd help. (flooring person, framers, repair/remodelers, others to help with painting and babysitting, etc). Has anyone one ever used a Owner Builder Consultant company like buildmax (just an example, looking at a local one)? Is it harder to get a construction loan since we won't have an actual contractor (the consultant company should qualify as a site supervisor, right?)? How much cheaper are they compaired to a actual contractor? We don't have a problem scheduling and dealing with the sub contractors (know what order and when to call them in)just need help getting everything set up (permits, and everything needed for the loan-appraisal, budget, etc) so we can start to build. Pretty confident about all the stuff we'll have to do after getting the loan and breaking ground, it's just everything up to that point we're not sure of. I also have a question about the construction loan. We have several people that will help us for free. But when we're done we'd like to give them something for helping us. After we get the framing done and the bank gives us the money to pay the framers, since we don't have labor to pay, we just keep the money in the account, right? Can we give some of that to the people that helped us (keeping it under $600/person so they/we don't have to worry about taxes)or do you have to show receipts for everything? Will they care if we pay friends instead of the bid that we turned in? Will they care since the work was done that they gave us the money for?
  7. Got a report, spent several hours on the phone trying to figure it all out. Turns out that someone with my husbands name applied for a loan. And they pulled up my husbands information in their computer instead of the other guys to run the CR. They said they will talk to the CRA and figure out how to get the inquiry off his report. When I asked about mine they said they never pulled it even after I told them several times I have a copy of all 3 right in front of me that says they did. Then they tried saying it must of been pulled for another reason because nothing with that loan has my name or SS# (it's all in the other person's name), even though I was told by 4 people they don't pull CR unless you apply for a loan. I never applied and they pulled a hard, so they didn't have my permission. I'm calling them tomorrow to see if they got it straighted out. If they don't remove it how hard is this going to be to get removed? Should it come off if I just dispute it? I have accounts with them but they didn't have my permission (or a reason) to pull a hard for a mortgage loan I didn't apply for.
  8. No collection accounts, and all my accounts are in good standing (no lates etc) I plan on dumping PG, didn't know they changed to once every 30 until today. They said I should of received a notice, I never did. I'll try calling the CRA and see what they say. Will they tell me even if I haven't ordered a report or do I have to wait until I get the report?
  9. Have a new inquirie and trying to figure out who it was. Since I can't pull my report (privacyguard sucks!), all I have is what my credit monitoring report shows. Planning on getting my reports from the actual CRA to see and to dispute it. CB CNCLBLF2812 TIERO At first I though it was TierOne bank, have a couple accounts with them. I called, (couple times and talked to different people) they said they never pulled my report. So now I'm trying to figure out who else it might of been. I haven't applied for any type of credit or anything else that would give someone a reason to pull it. Any ideas? Thanks
  10. WIC income guidelines Income Eligibility Guidelines (effective 7/1/04 - 6/30/05) Family of 5 Yearly-40,756 Monthly-3,397 Weekly-784 based on gross income. Kansas WIC information http://www.kdhe.state.ks.us/nws-wic/index.html If they qualify for WIC not only will she get formula, she'll can get milk, cereal, juice, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, and dried beans for any of their other kids up to age 5. It'll really help with the grocery bills, leaving more money for Dr bills.
  11. We had 2 dogs, a cat, 2 birds, an iguana, and a 55 gallon tank with I don't know how many fish all in a 1 bedroom apartment. Along with the above we also have had rats, hamsters, different types of reptiles, and a couple ferrets. Now we have 2 dogs, 5 snakes, and about 75 lizzards. (not pets, but they're in my house, 1,000's of crikets, roaches, and a freezer full of rats/mice, to feed all the criters).
  12. I'm bored and cleaning out my bookmarks. Started looking through a site and found poopie shorts. http://www.buycostumes.com/ProductDetail.a...=adultclearance
  13. From comments she's made before I think shes caught him in lies before. Shes never really came out and said anything but shes let a few things slip. He's a talker so he always has an excuse for everything. I think she wants to get proof so he can't talk his way out of it this time.
  14. He's busted!!! She called me this morning. Said last night she walked in while he was on the computer (he thought she was sleeping) and he had sites up on the computer, and she thought one looked like a singles site as he was closing them out. Than she seen him click on the history as he was picking the laptop up off the coffee table, sat back in the chair and was holding it so she couldn't see the screen! She said you could tell he was trying to hide what he was doing and closed things out so fast and moved the laptop she couldn't see exactly what he was doing. Said she acted like she didn't see anything and didn't think anything about the way he was acting. After he went to work she tried checking the history and couldn't find anything. Then she called me to ask if there was any way to find out what he's been doing. I told her how she can check the Temporary Internet Files. I don't know what all she found, she found some because she was naming some off (some of the same ones from our computer). I couldn't talk to her very long because I had to take my kids to school. I'm not going to say anything to her about it unless she brings it up wanting to talk about it. I think shes known for a while something was going on. I don't know why he didn't just close the laptop, he would of looked a lot less guilty.
  15. Which will be hard to do because I can't identify him by his (insert male part here), and that's what most of the pictures are. I did find a few people I know (they showed their face), <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Geez, how many pervs do you know? You need some new friends! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't know I knew that many! I only know them because they were regular customers (was a cashier at one of the few places in town) or I went to school with them. Small towns suck, you can't help but find things out about people you really didn't want to know.
