Mr. Zombeck goes to Washington...and he wants to bring your voice along with him. Click here to learn how to share your story in D.C. this week. -
Matt Weidner, a St. Petersburg attorney, along with assistance from Lisa Epstein from Foreclosure Hamlet.com, and Michael Redman from 4closureFraud.org, in an all out effort to force our legislators to take heed of their constituents, have organized a rally and bus caravan to transport an attention-getting army of united attorneys, advocates, consumers and homeowners all with passionate voices who want to let our lawmakers know that the people of Florida STRONGLY PROTEST the passage of laws that favor only those who profit from unfair financial practices and foreclosure machines. One of the latest assaults against Florida homeowners and tenants is the proposed Florida Consumer Protection and Homeowner Credit Rehabilitation Act -legislation written by Florida Bankers. This legislation would affect consumer rights by putting foreclosures on the fast-track by bypassing the courts. If you are interested in attending the rally or finding out how you can oppose this legislation, find details and updates here.

Yes, Richard Zombeck is one of few in the media who actually "gets it"!! Here's his latest blog from today: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/richard-zomb...n_b_536190.html Also -if you live in Florida...consider coming to the Rally in Tally...have your voice heard over the proposed fast track foreclosure proposals -before it's too late. http://www.givemebackmycredit.com/blog/201...allahassee.html Denise -

http://shamethebanks.org/ is a totally non-profit site and is totally safe. It may though in fact have appeared in your "norton unsure site status" as often does when the site is so new -but want you to know it is a legit non-commercial site. The Huff post writer's pulled it together for consumers/homeowners after being inundated with emails from consumers asking why nobody cares about helping them. I have always been passionate about helping consumers find ways to speak up and expose corporate wrongs and support their efforts. -
I absolutely agree with you -the admin needs to focus on 1. Jobs, 2. Jobs, 3. jobs -and in that order! The ShameTheBanks.org site however is helping to share your stories of financial abuses to help shed light on what many consumers and homeowners both have been through. Spiked interest rates, cut credit lines, closed credit cards, mishandling of your mortgage payments, etc. Today there are more financial lobbyists than ever before -making sure they are heard. Unless our voices are humanized and heard through sharing of life's experiences especially on the web and in GREAT forums like CB -more unfair practices will continue to create real hardships. When unemployed that last thing anyone needs is a hike in credit card interest rates that doubles payments. That then causes a domino effect -in all areas of your life and if it causes a late payment -that causes credit scores to tumble. Low credit scores mean higher interest rates and higher insurance premiums and can then even cost you that job. That's why sharing your story helps give you a voice and a shot at being treated fairly.

Hey CB'rs -thanks for the support you guys rock!! And re: it being a Windows thing -though some have been, these latest are not. I've had my share of them too! But a variety of occurrences over the last several months & year are predicted -and targeted. If you follow the links in the blog -you will see a small portion of it. My website, since initially hacked last December, -according to my security expert, has now blocked literally thousands of attempts. When they couldn't get to me that way -the hackers began to try new and creative ways to make their presence known. Including, using my name in fake credit report sites, jacking traffic, click-jacking and using my name to lure people to innocent website owner's hijacked sites. Once clicked on it launched malicious code. In many situations it's easy to connect the dots. All this has been documented, and investigated -it's like closing one hole, and another opens. But I am not alone. In fact, many consumers-turned-vocal have had similar dealings with hackings, site attacks, etc. The thing is, shady and targeted cyber attacks to silent noise makers happen more often than one would think by hackers-for-hire. I'm just sharing my situation. I hope that others who face the same types of cyber attacks -aimed at silencing them, will consider doing the same. Again -Thank you for your unwavering support !!

Advanta has announced that it will shut its credit card lending business June 10th. Lately many cardholders who have paid their accounts on time and been long time customers have reported receiving notices of extreme rate hikes as high as 30 -35%. The company said in a release this week that it will shut down about 1 million credit card accounts on June 10th. Are you an Advanta cardholder worried about having your account closed? Have you recently had your rates jacked, by Advanta or any credit card issuer? Credit limits cut? Email me your state, story and whether or not you will talk to various reporters. Are you an Advanta, (or other credit card company) current or former employee willing to share your knowledge of risk management? If so see this earlier blog! And, here is the latest on pending credit card reform as of today...

It's illegal for debt collectors to call family members, co-workers and/neighbors -and if they are calling you about your sibling -your sibling should contact an attorney! See: Blog here

George, opting out is not an option. Unfortunately consumers can't opt out and still have a credit card or a cell phone contract or work at a business that requires employees sign a "you can't sue me" contract. Without access to our judicial system what will deter fraud or reckless and negligent behavior that harms others? I don't advocate or like frivolous lawsuits, in fact, I believe they hurt consumers and our system. But blocking the public from our system -only serves to hide corporate wrongs and allow fraud to flourish. We have enough of that now, don't we?

If your credit card interest rates have been jacked or your credit limit sliced, please email me and share your story. Various reporters are interested in hearing about your circumstances. Thanks! Denise GiveMeBackMyCredit.com/blog

Arbitration Fairness Day is April 29th. Sign the petition for fairness here Binding arbitration is no substitute for consumer accountability! I can't help but wonder what our founding fathers would think of this new method corporations have found to hide from accountability. Access to our judicial system is our most effective means of deterring fraud and holding wrongdoers accountable for harm their actions (or inactions) may have caused. But, when a business includes a binding mandatory arbitration (BMA) requirement in its contract, it basically means if you have a dispute, it must be decided outside of the courts. Instead, those cases must be decided by arbitrators who are not bound by the Rule of Law that ensures consumers get a fair shake in the civil justice system. And because BMA clauses are "binding," you must abide by the decision of the arbitrator. You have no right to appeal the decision. See more here

Tired of Credit Card Interest Rate Hikes?
deniserichardson replied to deniserichardson's topic in Credit Forum
Well it may not work for everyone as many credit unions haven't gotten on board yet. But this American Debt Relief Challenge is a good thing. At least they are trying to get more credit unions involved. It's a start. In a very short time, they have already tallied up some hefty savings for some consumers. So it is definitely worth sharing this news and the ADR challenge with your Credit Union and consumers. It's a grassroots effort -and that can take some time. Hopefully Congress will pass credit card reform and level the playing field a bit. Raising rates, cutting credit and tacking on bigger late fees does nothing to help consumers or the economy. At least the ADR challenge is trying to do something to help. Maybe credit card companies will find this movement a threat and think twice before jacking rates -and hurting credit scores.
