Thanks for the speedy response MarvBear. I spoke with the credit union underwriter and she said they thought it was already on the car. I guess that isn't so bad since I needed a car. How long should you keep a car before refinancing or trading it in? This should really help my credit score with this loan though. That's what I wanted and needed.

I filed a bankruptcy in November 2011 and it was discharged Feb 2012. I needed a car and went to my local credit union who turned me down at first. I asked for a reconsideration and a company who works with credit unions (CURE, LLC)called me and said they would give me a loan. I was desparate and was tired of asking for rides, rental cars..etc. Anyway...the credit union had a few choice cars for me to choose from. I finally settled on a 2008 Kia Spectra with 46,000 miles. The loan is for 5 yrs..the interest is 18%. ouch! It hasn't been 30 days since getting this car but I took it to get looked at due to a bad shaking when you get up to speed. I was told the car has been wrecked. I noticed the hood color is a bit off from the rest of the car. I called the credit union and they claimed the car has a clean carfax and has not been wrecked. They told me they would pay to fix the shaking and want me to take it to Express Lube. That left a bad taste in my mouth but today a company calls to ask me when was I available to get a GPS put on the car. I told her I wasn't aware of any GPS system to be put on the car and the lady on the phone says that the CU put GPS on all their cars. With all the other frustrations going on, I promptly told her if that's the case the car would be going back. It wasn't 10 minutes after hanging up from that call when the underwriter that did my paperwork for the car called and asked why I wanted to return the car. I explained that I wasn't happy with this whole sale and I definitely didn't want a GPS on the car. She said it was good for me in case the car was stolen and it would lower my insurance because it was like a lojack or something. She promptly told me if I returned the car, it would still be a repossession. I'm not happy with this...I just want to vent and get some advice. I hate being in desparate situations. That's when I seem to make mistakes and regrets. The bankruptcy was needed to clear up debt from my ex-husband and just let me get a clean start. I'm stuck with this car, huh? Oh not to mention, someone stole the temporary tags off the car. I was on my way home from work and a guy at a red light kept looking at me and asking me to roll my window down. I thought he was flirting until he pointed to the back of my car. When I rolled down the window, he told me I had a cute car but where was my tag! I got home as fast as I could and sure enough they were gone. I just went to DMV and got another temporary tag.

I just got off the phone with a rep at USAA and she said I don't qualify for the secured cc because it's for military only. I do have their checking and a savings account. TIA

Okay...it's been awhile since posting on here but I need to vent/get advice...etc. I have a huge issue and want to see if there is any advice. Went through a divorce and have had the same 1997 Plymouth Neon for years. I just couldn't afford a newer car. Anyway...Neon started acting up a couple days ago when I was driving. Mechanic said transmission is shot. I've already got some sensor replaced, brakes and a ton of other things. The car also had a big crack in the windshield and needs a catalytic converter. Anywoo...I decided to get another car. I've tried PSECU and Associated Bank here in Georgia. They turned me down. My FICO is 638 at PSECU website. I also went to a Ford dealership and they asked for more money down to get me financed. (I offered $1500). Well I went to a used dealership that claimed they don't check your credit but actually did. They informed me that the Ford dealership "really got me good" in their own words and told me there was 10 banks on my credit report where Ford tried to get financing. Well this is where it gets even worse. This used dealership says they can put me in a car today but my downpayment determines everything. I started haggling at $800 but they said they had to start at $1000 and the cars were limited with that amount of a downpayment. I knew I should of jumped back in the rent-a-car and got out of there but I didn't. I put down $1800 and then signed a contract to give them $400 in two week towards the downpayment and another $400 two weeks after that. That will be $2600 for the downpayment. Now it gets even worse...my payment are 255 every two weeks. Thats over $500 a month. Think it can't get any worse...oh yes it does. I came home and did the homework which I should of done before going!! The Bluebook value of the car is $12,085. The dealer sold it to me for 17,000. With taxes, fees and a interest of 18%, the total is 20,000+. All this happened yesterday and I feel like such a salamander. I've been up all night reading and trying to see what I can do. I read there is no buyer's remore law in Georgia. I'm reading I'm liable for the contract even if I take the car back. I really don't car about it being on my credit because I've thought about filing for bankruptcy. Plus the dealership said they don't report on credit reports, but I bet they would report this. I know..I know...I messed up. Advice please. A

I applied and got the message We are unable to finalize your credit card application. You will be hearing from us within the next 10-14 days. Thank you! I called in and spoke to a rep and they said they needed some documents to verify my info. They asked for a copy of a state/gov't ID, copy of a utililty bill (no cell phone) and a copy of my W2 from last year. wth?? lol I asked them all that for a $100 limit card and she said that's just a starting figure and I could always request a increase after making 2 or 3 payments on time. I asked her could I fax it in and she said that was fine. I'm on my way to fax the documents.

How do you join LCFCU? It looks like it's only for people in the DC area... Did you ever find the answer to this question? Anyone know how to join? Thanks!

Hi...I'm looking at my acct now and my direct deposit was made on 3/18/2010 and my $100 bonus was deposited on 3/23/2010. It didn't take even take a full week.

Hi.. I know they always used chex but from other posts I've read, they used it for a checking acct and used Equifax for a savings. It's fine though...I was approved for a savings/checking at Associated Credit Union....yesss! Now on to cleaning up the bank mess due to a angry ex. Thanks for all the great info CBer's.

Hi All, I just came from my mailbox. I sent my application/deposit to open a savings at DCU on September 17th. I was denied due to a chex entry. I also wanted the secured Visa. Guess they are using chex now or at least with some people.

Sounds better than a flat out denial. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya! Good luck!

Thanks Everyone!! Do they have an automated line to check status? I dont want to talk to a person. I'm not sure Leena, but I called 800-288-4653 to check. I only got the nerve up to call after the surprise AA card. lol

I applied on Aug 28th for 3 of the citi cards. The Premier Pass, AAdvantage and the business card. Well just got back in town and checked my mailbox and guess what?? I got a shiny new AAdvantage with a $4000 limit. I called citi to get the status of the other 2 cards and this is what I found out. To get the pending PP, I need to send them proof of a phone bill. The CB card was denied because of a bankruptcy on my personal credit. I have no idea how they approved me for the AA. I don't care...I'm estatic!! I did NOT have a paydex at the time I applied. I've already activated my card and set up my online acct info. Thanks CB!

Well check this out. I just called back and this rep told me you had to be in business for 5 yrs! I repeated it back to him and he replied "pretty much". Sounds like it depends on the rep you get.
