I fly to Europe via business class which can average $6k-$8k per ticket. So what you're saying is even Donald Trump shouldn't charge anything. I don't buy it, it doesn't work that I way. Trump has an exposure limit and so do you, yours probably isn't as high. You're right of course, I'm just arguing because I'm PO'd. I'll be up there with Donald come August. :-) I was PO'ed at AMEX for a while but there isn't much you can do when they decide to dump you. I really don't understand them dumping charge card customers like this who have always paid as agreed. I suppose you used the Platinum for the lounge access? Have you looked into the Ameriprise card that also offers airport lounge access? Yeah, I have the Ameriprise World Elite and another card that offers it, so I'm good there.

No delinquents/derogs, no high balances, absolutely no reason to cancel the card. I charged probably $8,000+ on my card on a monthly basis for most of the time I've had it. I can take my business elsewhere. Sounds to me like it was an exposure cutting action. They use "we found something we found on <CRA>" as a CYA excuse. Moving on is about all you can do, obviously they don't want your business. There really is no exposure when the card is PIF every month. Sure there is. You could run it up one month and not pay. They've always set exposure limits on charge cards. I fly to Europe via business class which can average $6k-$8k per ticket. So what you're saying is even Donald Trump shouldn't charge anything. I had 2 pages of charges from AMEX DETLA on a slow month CHASE UNITED VISA now loves the 2 and 3 pages of charges (sometimes 4) I hear ya George, Chase has been very good to me and I just got a solicitation from them in the mail last week which I was already pondering.

No Red border Was it a legit call then??? Somebody yanking your chain Prank phone call??? Can you go get gas on the card at a gas station near you with PAY-AT-THE-PUMP??? Get $5.00 just to see if it is really dead Call AMEX (number on the back of the card) to see if you can get a current balance and last payment or you are automatically transferred to somebody telling you are not allowed to use the card Caller ID Says American Express 1-336-393-7010 I tried using my Blue Cash card for my credit pull purchase and apparently they cut that one as well as the card was declined. Didn't try the Platinum since they told me it was cancelled.

So are you going to call and read that to them and DEMAND they reopen the account??? or Send a copy of the report and attach the card cut in 1/2 and tell them where to put it??? I'm going to demand the open the card and if they don't I'll do #2

I just pulled my Experian online report, just as it should be no public reports, no derogatories, not a single inquiry since August 2008. Public Records The information in this section comes from federal district bankruptcy records, state and county court records, tax liens and monetary judgments, and in some states, overdue child support records. Public records remain on your credit report for 7-10 years. There are 0 public record items on your report.

I dunno, I called Experians automated service for the hard copy via snail mail. Will have to look and see if I pull a copy online what it shows.

I got a call from Amex today. AMEX " first of all I want you to know we're being recorded". I said, who are you? AMEX " I'm with American Express and I want to thank you for making your payment and bringing your account current". And I'm like, huh? It's a Platinum card and I paid the $700 I charged so why are you calling? AMEX " well I wanted you to know the account was current, you do know it's closed don't you?" CLOSED I said, WTF DO YOU MEAN CLOSED? AMEX "Yes sir, we closed the account and you should be receiving a letter". WHY? It's a charge card and I've never done anything like not pay the balance in full. AMEX "Sir we closed it because of the negative public records on your account." PUBLIC RECORDS? WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? AMEX "Sir we pulled your Experian report like we do every month and decided to close the account because of the public records." PUBLIC RECORDS, I HAVE NO PUBLIC RECORDS. I DEMAND YOU SEND ME PROOF TODAY!!!!! AMEX "Sir we sent you a letter with all the details" WELL I RECEIVED NO FRIGGIN LETTER FROM YOU IN FACT I USED THAT CARD ALL WEEKEND ON MY TRIP. I hung up on her and went and called for my Experian report right away. We'll see what's on it when the mail comes.
