How to respond to Verizon? (Debt Validation Response)
somekindofhappiness replied to blackwrx's topic in Credit Forum
OP, you may have more success with the so called "623 Dispute," which can be filed with the data furnisher once the consumer has failed to resolve the issue with the CRAs. Also, no need to claim "identity theft." If you have no record of aforementioned account, then once notified the burden of proof simply falls to the OC: in this case Verizon. http://www.creditinfocenter.com/repair/DisputingWithOriginalCreditor.shtml- 15 replies

Help with Elan Financial Anyone!!!
somekindofhappiness replied to Dreams and Nightmares's topic in Credit Forum
In my experience with Élan, getting a CLI has been pretty easy (and I inquiry free) as long as the amout of the increase does not exceede $1,500. -
My experience was that I got the 7- 10 day notice initially, having EX on ice, but EQ and TU unfrozen for this very purpose. Called customer service a few days later and, feigning naïveté, inquired about the status of the app. The rep told me that it was declined because they couldn't pull EX and asked if I'd ever had a security freeze in place. I played dumb and the rep put me on hold a couple times while he tried to pull another bureau. Eventually he came back with an EQ pull and an approval. So the moral is that even if Chase pulls EX by default, it's still pretty easy to get them use use a different CRA.

From my experience with US Bank, you can get a CLI every 6 months and Inq free as long as $1,500 is the max you request.
-
In my experience requesting a CLI, NFCU actually pulled a hard on EX, which was the only non-frozen CRA at the time. It took a few extra days for the pull to hit. I don't know if they tried TU, but it seems that in spite of NFCU's legal right to pull a hard in an instance of a preexisting relationship, (they were certainly doing soft AR Inqs) in reality they probably won't do so if a report is frozen.

After a drought of 4+ years (unless you were lucky enough to get into PSECU before the Parks and Recreation loophole closed) we finally have access to our Experian FICO!!! I'll leave it to the credit gurus to determine which model of the score they're using. Maybe next, Myfico will start offering a current TU version.
-
Will their loan department re-use a checking account inquiry for a credit card? Also, these account opening inqs aren't stickies, are they?
-
I just got my settlement card last week. I was wondering who else on the boards was also included in the class action suit. According to the card, "the parties estimate that the award to individual Class Members will be about $300." A nice surprise, to be sure. Money aside, I support any legal action that gets these shadow CRAs like LexisNexis to obey the law. I still can't believe that they refuse to institute security freezes in most states because, in their own words, they "aren't a credit reporting agency." https://personalreports.lexisnexis.com/freeze.jsp

AMEX CLI Approved, but not for full 3X amount, what now??
somekindofhappiness replied to kromix's topic in Credit Forum
I experienced something similar when asking for a 3x increase. They countered with a smaller amount, but I declined it then waited 5- 6 months and asked again. Second time around I was approved for the 3x increase. If you want to find out WHY Amex wouldn't give you the full 3x, just decline their next CLI offer (assuming it's less than 3x) and you'll get an Adverse Action letter giving the reasons they couldn't grant your request. -
Anyone a member of GTE Credit Union in Florida?
somekindofhappiness replied to Lunacy's topic in Credit Forum
And to think I was entertaining the notion of joining in order to get their CC: just to have the bragging rights of owning one with a 6.99% APR : (- 12 replies

Dept store cards that will give you the highest limits ????
somekindofhappiness replied to Maizerulz's topic in Credit Forum
Not a exactly a department store, but as "store card" Home Depot gives hefty limits upon opening. You can't exactly put a new roof on your house with the typical sized BBRZ or Wal-Mart card limit. Sears is also pretty decent if you go for their MasterCard. The actual store card however is much less impressive. -

Experian previously investigated
somekindofhappiness replied to Auto_Body_Chick's topic in Credit Forum
I have heard of people on this board having success with this same problem by prominently stating that they have "New Information," regarding the account in question. Perhaps you can even get some kind of documentation from the OC or CA to use as your "new documentation.'" Even if it doesn't really add anything to the nature of the dispute, at least it can get EX to investigate again, giving you another shot at deletion. Here's a link to a good thread on the topic. http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?s -
You can only view soft pulls from the CRA itself. You'll never see them with a 3rd party service. Just go to the inquiry section of your EC report and you'll be able to view them. See them where? I'm currently viewing my Equifax Complete™ Premier Plan report's inquires and only hard inquires are visible. When all else fails, you can always try the back door http://www.google.com/search?q=equifax+dispute
