  1. Just to clear up a couple things. I don't think Capital One is closed. It's in collections, but the email said if I pay the minimum I may be able to regain use of the card. I'll be in the position to do that in the next 5 days. The current balance on that card is right at 500.00. My issue with them is the 30-60-90-120 days late and desire to get those removed. First Premier offered me a settlement of 60 percent. Current balance is 858, so I'd owe them right around 500.00. If I settle, they say they'll report it as closed and paid in full for less than the full balance. My questions are two fold; 1. What can I do to get the Capital One late payments removed? 2. If I go for the settlement with First Premier, arn't I waiving the white flag and conceding that it'll stay on my report for the next 7 years? And If I do the settlement, will my score change with the way they report it, closed and paid in full for less than full balance.
  2. Capital One I'm not worried about. I should be able to keep it open, but whats hurting with them is the 120 day late reporting. I've seen people dispute that off before though.
  3. First Premier charged the card off after only a 30 day late reported. I definitely have problems with that and have no problem disputing it, and think the reporting isn't valid.
  4. So I assume I'm not the only one who has stuff on his report that is his fault it's on there. Like others though, I want it off my report. What is the best way to go about this if its really your fault. For me it's 2 cards. Capital One Secured where I'm 120 days late, still have a chance to maybe save that card, but after a month I think it'll be charged off. The problem with them is the late payments listed. The other card a First Premier card. This is more complicated because I think the reporting is wrong, and I've disputed that directly with them via email which another forum was getting good results with. I mean I made the charges etc, but I think with the way they are reporting and the success some have had I might be able to get it off. But ethically and morally how do we go about getting this stuff removed if we know we really owe it. Is pay for delete the best option in these scenarios? I have two other negatives on my account, but both will be removed in Summer 18. They've stayed quiet and I'm not going to wake them up. But these two Capital One, First Premier, won't be gone till 2023, which isn't acceptable. Advice, thanks.
  5. these late payments crush your score, but they are legit. i tried disputing them and couldnt get rid of them. how long until they stop having an impact. what is also a card i can get immediately to help my score? thanks guys.
  6. USAA. I did a mass dispute a few weeks ago when I got my free annual report. Everything looks the same on Experian still.
  7. I disputed some things but they are still there I think. Not complaining, just want to know why. Thanks.
  8. i got my capital one payment date confused and sent it late. i did a similar thing awhile ago with my other card, but it never showed up late on my report. do they have a grace period for these late payments, like if you send it within 3 days or so it'll still report as paid?
  9. I was calling to cancel my account since I really dont use it much anymore. Have my financial ducks pretty much in a row now. Lady on the phone said she would drop it to 6 bucks for a year starting the 15th. Too tempting to turn down. Even though I dont really have much to see, the added security of being able to check my report anytime is great. I also have a soft spot for USAA as I prefer there credit monitoring over eliminate ID theft, who I will get rid of regardless of the offer.
  10. not the store card, but the reward zone one. i started with a 100 limit, was about to trash it, but logged in a couple days ago and saw the limit was raised from 100 to 300 hundred. this was after about 4 months of on time payments.
  11. just would like some thoughts on my chances of being approved for anything there. I have 4 accounts that were all closed by the creditor. All show a 0 balance now and are paid off, 1 was settled. I have 2 positive accounts that have always been positive, no negative history on them but the tradelines are very small. 6 inquiries.
  12. do they contact you by phone with a counter offer or do they just update the account with counter offer?
  13. let us know how it turns out jigga. I have closed accounts(by creditor) but they are all paid off now with 0 balances. I have 2 positives reporting, they are small amounts though. I have 0 active derogatories. Everything I have settled or paid off, and I have 0 util right now. I might as well give it a shot. id be surprised as hell though if i get 20k
  14. Im interested in doing this as well. But I have a question. I have only the 100 dollar best buy reward zone as revolving credit with no balance right now. Based on that I'd doubt they'd give me a 20k limit. Is it possible to apply for a lesser amount? If I apply for say 1000, will I have a better shot at getting it then 20k? I don't even want it to really use that often, I just want larger tradelines.
  15. It's been an interesting work in progress. At one point I had 10 negative accounts and a 420 credit score. I have successfully gotten the likes of LVNV, Marauder, NCA off my credit report. I've also struggled with payments on 2 big settlements. Yes, I could've tried to get rid of those, and I tried initially, but they were legit debts and I got great offers on them. 2 years ago and 10 accounts ago I'm down to 1 more. This is a legit debt. I have tried to drop this 2 times from dispute but it hasn't worked. I will offer them a PFD and chalk that up as a W when that gets taken care of. I do have some accounts that are closed with 0 balances that will continue to hold the credit score down for a couple more years until they are naturally removed, but that is of no significance to me. I will probably do one final jack attack though on those closed accounts. Most likely they will remain until they naturally roll off. I never thought I would get to where I am now. But I have. To people just starting out, look to the forums, read advice and stick with it.
