  1. I'm getting ready to type up some "Jack Attack" style letters, and I was wondering if I should include medical collections with this dispute, or if I should attack those separately using the WhyChat HIPPA method. Can anyone think of reasons why NOT to include medical baddies in a jack attack style letter? Any reasons why it may be a great idea? Thoughts? TIA!!
  2. I will probably get flamed for this... But the first (and only) CC I was approved for when my scores were in the 500s was a crappy Orchard Bank card with a tiny limit. After 6 months of paying in full on time every month, I was just approved for a Cap1 card. Now, I know these are two of the crappiest sub-prime CCs out there, BUT - you have to start somewhere. Just my .02.
  3. So I've had my HSBC Orchard Bank Gold MC for about 6 months now. Always paid on time, always in full. It's helped my credit repair TREMENDOUSLY - even though it's just a tiny $300 CL. DH and I want to buy a home in the next few years, so we went and "applied" for a mortgage, knowing that we wouldn't get approved. We wanted to see where we stood, have a bank tell us what would benefit us the most when it comes to credit repair and mortgages, etc. One thing that we keep hearing over and over is "Your husband needs to establish credit." He has NONE. He's never applied for anything in his life, he's always paid cash for everything. He's very reluctant to open another credit account, because he actually isn't very good with money - yes, he's never had debt, but he had zero savings until we got together. I want to put him as an AU on my HSBC card, but I remember a while back reading a thread about HSBC no longer adding AUs, or giving out CLIs. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Also, do you think adding DH as an AU on my credit card account would be just as effective for building his credit as him trying to open his own? I really don't want him to have his "own" credit card... I fear he would max it out without telling me.
  4. I sure don't! The only thing I've disputed so far are my addresses... TU and EQ have already updated, but EX has not... surprise surprise. I'm just not good at waiting... and I was so excited...
  5. Update.... I checked on the website again today, and this is what is says now: "We are unable to finalize your credit card application. You will be hearing from us within the next 10-14 days. Thank you!" So I called the number to check your application, and it says it's still processing. I called customer service, and they said nothing has been done yet, because when I give them my SSN they can't find anything. Does this mean I've been denied? I'll cry, seriously. Plus, they already hit my bank account for their $19 fee! AND I got a hard inq on EQ!
  6. I thought never in my life would I ever be approved for an unsecured credit card... but just this week I was approved for an Orchard Bank MC. Toy CL of $300, but enough to use smartly and establish positive TLs. Just my .02.
  7. First of all, welcome! You're in the right place. Secondly, if there's one thing I've learned, there is no such thing as "worst credit ever" or "unfixable credit". I know the steps and processes are confusing at first, but my best advice to you is to read the newbie section. Twice. And when you've read every post in every thread there, read it again. Sure, LL will fix it for you... but what does that really teach you? I'm in almost the same boat as you, and I know I got myself in this mess, and I can get myself out of it. I'm not going to hand it all over to someone to fix it for me. For me, credit repair=taking charge of my life. FWIW.
  8. Perhaps in a few months I will apply for a Target Redcard as well... after I get a few baddies removed.
  9. When did you apply? What number did you call? Did you have to pay a processing fee (I did)? I understand that this is probably the crappiest credit card you can get, what with a processing fee, AF, a not-so-good rates... but it's better than NO positives!
  10. This is all it tells me: "Your application has been approved. We are in the process of validating your funds. Your card will be sent within 10-14 days." Guess I'll just have to wait! Patience was never one of my virtues....
  11. I'm only going to use it for gas, once a month. It costs me about $25-$30 to fill up the tank on my little car. All I need right now is a rebuilder card. I just never thought I'd get approved for ANYTHING unsecured, even a rebuilder!
  12. When did you find out what your CL was? When you got the card? Did you call?
  13. I was just approved for a "junk card", but it's my first in... well, ever! So I am sharing your excitement! Maybe someday I can have a real card, too....
  14. So my TU FAKO went from 585 to 628 today! OMG! Don't know what I did, but.... I decided to bite the bullet and go for an unsecured Orchard Gold MC. TO MY UTTER AMAZEMENT, I WAS APPROVED! $19 processing fee, but hey... at this point, I'm okay with that! But I don't know what my CL is! I've called customer service, and they said an acct# hasn't generated yet, blah blah blah, call another number to get the status of your app. I call that number, and all I can get it to tell me is that my application is being processed, and my funds are being validated. I don't care if the CL is $100 or $1000, I just want to know! For those of you who have recently been approved for an Orchard Card, how did you find out your CL? How long did it take you to get your card? I'm so excited I could squeal! This is my "second half" of credit repair... I will finally begin to have a solid, POSITIVE TL!! WHOO HOO!!!!
