  1. I am in Saudi Arabia on a job and coming back to the U.S. soon. My contract fell through and I unfortunately am struggling now to pay some debt over here (hotel bill and rental car). I have no idea how I am going to pay for these. Both the hotel and car rental are private businesses only in Saudi. My questions are: 1. If I don't pay my bills, is it likely they will come after me through a collection firm? 2. Can this affect my credit score in the U.S.? Thanks
  2. Here's the scoop: In mid December I received my TransUnion credit report after making a dispute on my American Express Account. The information was "verified", so I sent in another dispute saying that the account was not charged off (as the credit report said) and that it was closed by me with a zero balance (the report said it was closed by credit grantor with a balance). I received the results of that dispute today. They added "new information" to the report, but didn't do anything with my actual complaint. The report still says that it was closed by credit grantor, still has a balance, and still says it was charged off. The things that were changed that don't make any sense are: 1. This report says that the report was updated on 7/2007. This makes no sense as the report that I got last month said that it was updated 11/2009 (which would have been accurate). How could this one say 7/2007??? 2. The past due amount on this report says $11,325. The report last month said $4,780. How could this happen? The account is closed and I haven't used it. 3. The report says "charged off as bad debt". My argument is that I closed the account with a zero balance. If they say it was charged off as "bad debt", how can they have a balance of $11,325? Wouldn't the balance be zero if it was charged off as they say it was? 4. This report says that the account was closed on 7/2007, while the report I got last month said it was closed 9/2007. I get the feeling that TU is just trying to screw with me. Does anyone have any idea of what kind of recourse I can take? I thought about sending in another dispute, along with a photo copy of each American Express account from the two reports they sent me and highlighting the information so that they can see there are problems. I'm not sure if this is going to help me or not. Am I better off just sending in a "generic" dispute and say that the entire account is wrong and to delete it? Any advice is appreciated! Chris
  3. MCK changed their website as of today. This no longer works
  4. I've never written to the AG, but I believe there are some letter samples somewhere I will take a look at. Thanks!
  5. Thanks George. I tried the zip code, but the zip matches the address. Nice try though. http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp Find a ZIP Code by entering an address. (You can also search for a partial address, such as "Main Street, Fairfax, VA.") DO YOU GET THIS WITH THE ADDRESS... We're sorry! We were unable to process your request. The address was not found. Please check the address below. You may want to utilize the Yellow Pages and/or White Pages below. IF YOU DO...COPY AND PASTE IT TO A DISPUTE
  6. Bump. I'm still trying to find a letter that addresses "previously verified" or "previously investigated" responses from Experian. Experian seems to think that if you have requested an investigation on a creditor for reason A, then you can never request an investigation on the same creditor again, even if it is for reason B, C, etc. They keep telling me that the information has been previously verified, even though I am disputing different things about the same creditor. I saw a letter awhile back about how to approach this and I can't find it anywhere.
  7. How did you get so many items deleted so easily if you don't mind me asking. Maybe what worked for you will work for me.
  8. Has anyone ever found the letter for this problem? If so, can you tell me where to find it?
  9. Beli, I haven't heard from any CA's yet. This is all CRA stuff. When I dispute, I typically just dispute one thing for each creditor, but EX refuses to investigate again if they have already investigated that particular Creditor. It doesn't make sense to me. The last round of disputes came back as "previously verified" yet the previously verified was from 2006 and 2007 and not even the same disputes. I know I've seen a letter somewhere that addresses this issue, but I can not find it. Anyone know where to locate this letter? Thanks!!!
  10. I received the EXP Previously Investigated letter for all my disputes with them. These were for accounts that were verified in 2006 and 2007. They will not verify things 3 years later?? I saw a letter on here about how to get around that, but am having trouble with the search finding it. Can someone either point me to that letter or give me some help on where to go from here in attacking this problem. I am getting ready to give up on EXP!!! Thanks! Chris
  11. I did a round of disputes with Experian and got the results back today. One of the things that I disputed was the address information. They responded by saying, "we store address information as it is sent to us by your credit grantors or from public records. One or more of your credit grantors reported the address you questioned and it is a part of your credit history. If you believe the credit grantors reported the address in error, you may want to contact the company directly." Isn't it Experian's job to assure they are reporting accurate information? Why should I have to contact my creditors directly? Is there a letter out there that I can use to address this issue with Experian?
  12. I would really appreciate a PM also Markca. Thank you in advance! No, actually you weren't mislead. I just decided it was time to share the wealth.
  13. I signed up for Credit Check Total (CCT), but I know there are other monitoring companies out there like Privacy Matters, Privacy Guard, and True Credit. The reason I've signed up is for pulling (and monitoring of course) If I have done my homework correctly, CCT seems to be preferred by many who are attempting B*. Is my logic correct that I'm allowed to pull my report once per day with CCT and that pull creates one inquiry on my report? After so many days, B* will begin to occur? Does anyone recommend doing any others in conjunction with CCT, or do I have too much of a risk of C* when I use more than one? Any ideas or experiences would be great!
  14. BUMP....Thanks for the info...I'll check into that webiste...Any other ideas from anyone?
  15. They just raised my annual fee also, but at the same time said "we're proud to announce that we are eliminating over limit fees". Oh, that's so considerate!
