Do you all ever ask for cash price on your scripts?
I find that it saves me a few bucks a month by doing this. The wife and I have double insurance for ourselfs and our daughter through or places of enployment.
The insurance companys seems to be running a scam with there copays. Usally 10 to 20 dollars a pop. A lot of the scripts we get on a monthly basis are only 7 to 8 bucks for a thrity day supply. I have saved as much as 10.00 on some purchases.
Even a little savings can add up over the term of a year. It won't work on some of the scripts but it does not hurt to ask.
Asking for cash price.

If ours cost less than the co pay than we only pay that amount. I don't understand how they can charge you more than the drug cost.
Another way to save is by transfering you scripts. Target(and other places) often has coupons for a $10 gift card with a new or transfered script. Get them filled there when you have a coupon and the next month get it filled someplace else that is offering a coupon or at a place that doesn't offer coupons, that way when Target has the coupon out again you can transfer it back and get another gift card. I did this when I had a $5 co pay and I still got the $10 gift card (made $5). Sometimes you can only transfer it a couple times and than you need a new script from the Dr, but all you have to do is call the Dr and ask them to call it in where ever you want to get it filled.

Uhhhh yeah.
My old pharmacist always told me when it was cheaper to purchase the drugs without the insurance, but this new one doesn't know me, and we don't need scripts that often, so I have to ask (see what moving does to you!).
I was p!ssed as all get out when my daughter needed an inhaler and it was considered "non-standard" by the insurance and as such was going to cost me 2x the amount of a "standard" script. Then I found out that it would cost 1/2 the price of the regular copay if I just paid for it outright! That's when I realized the power of "ask!"

. My pharmacist knows I want the best deal possible. I go to one of the old style neighborhood pharmacys were they know your name. Walgreens is building a store across the street so I know they won't be in bussiness much longer I will really miss them.The insurance companys really stick it to folks with some of there copays.

Hmm..haven't run into problems myself yet. Like when I had dental work done, my copay of 10/20/50/50% the lowest amount of money I should pay is 10, but the antiobiotic was only 8 and change. Guess I am lucky with my prescription plan.
