Success will all except...Capital ONE

Well! I'm happy to report that I got 2 of the 3 30 day lates removed from my CR. I called Bloomingdales and my Credit Union Credit Card who BOTH happily agreed to a, "good will" no problem, happy to help with a one time courtesy. Capital ONE is the ONLY negative on my report showing a Jan 2013 30 day late. ugh! I've done everything to try to get it off and they won't budge. I disputed, wrote and faxed letters, called, wrote to the CEO (and got a really nice, "wish we could help" phone call). They simply do not edit "accurate" information. I know I was late and Jan 2013 payments were a miss on my part. I was hoping to try for some CLI's on a few of my cards before applying for a mortgage to boost my score a bit.

 

I'm afraid that with a Jan 2013 late, I won't get approved for my planned CLI's. My middle score is 760. I've come A LONG way this year, any suggestions on Capital ONE or thoughts on getting approved with a 30 day late within 12 months on all three of my CRs?

UW's are looking for patterns of behavior. A single late does not make trend so it shouldn't be a deal breaker. I think you'll have some explaining to do but you should be OK. You'll probably just have to write a letter of explanation.

 

BTW your scores are fine so don't try for any credit limit increases unless you know with 100% certainty that the requests will be soft pulls (how do you ever really know that for sure). Why risk adding a recent inquiry? You already have a recent late. You don't want to appear to be in need of new consumer credit. IMHO
