So I got an email today with the subject:

Lucky you! You've got available credit on your EXPRESS NEXT Credit Card Account

I got excited, thinking I got a CLI after only 3 months. No, they were reminding me that I had $350 left of a $350 limit and that I should use it to buy clothes. I buy an outfit there at least once a month. I don't know why they're being pushy. Lol.

But they got me all excited for nothing.

This is something that they do on the request of the merchant. They basically want you to use your their credit line if they have made it available to you. If you want to get a credit limit increase, Express is generally very generous, go for it! It is all good, don't get yourself all worked up about it.

I've noticed a trend in email marketing that I've been getting stating "Important information about your Credit Card Account." So, I'm like OK, what is this? I open the email and all it tells me is my credit line and what discounts and deals are going on with that card. Basically, HEY! SPEND MONEY!

I got the same email notifying me of X amount available.

A couple of days prior I had requested a CLI and got the 7-10 day message, so it was that proximate event that caused me to read the email instead of deleting it upon arrival.

What is odd is that they'd give me a card when my credit was $%^&d up, but now that it's fixed they have to think long and hard about a CLI? Whatever... I only wanted a CLI because "cute as a button" isn't cutting it for me anymore, limit-wise, on any of my accounts. :P

Applied for a New York and Company Card in store and did not get a denial but it said that I would receive a letter in regards to decision. What does that mean?

I just got an auto CLI on my express card a few weeks ago. It went from 500 to 750. I opened the card in august 2012. I have carried a small balance (<150) for more than half of those months.

I did not get that email that you got.i charge on it once every couple of months.

It generally means a denial with Comenity but in some cases they may need additional information, or if a report is frozen, then they would be doing a manual pull! It is hard to say! You may want to call them and find out :1 (800) 889 - 0494 Monday-Saturday 8am-9pm EST

Comenity is a strange lender. I did the shopping cart trick and got a $750 limit. I have used it and PIF'd a couple times, everything is active and I have the card, but its not showing on any of my reports, and I have had it for at least a month already.

My J. Crew credit card took over a month to report. Don't fret yet.

If it's the same thing that happened to me with Express, it means nothing happened and there is no indication of you ever applying. I tried it about five times with Express. I never received anything in the mail, had no pulls on my credit, and all the representatives I talked to had no indication that I ever applied.

I was just approved for the Total Rewards Visa by Commenity at the beginning of the month.

Scores are mid 600's and they started with a $1,000 limit. Logged in the first time and hit the CLI button and it went to $1,250

It seems that they update most of their accounts between the 8th and the 10th of each month so sometimes it may take them 30 to 45 days to report it initially!
