Graphic footage from ITV News shows a man with bloodied hands making political statements

A man has been killed in a machete attack and two suspects shot by police in Woolwich, south-east London.

The Met Police said a murder inquiry was being led by its
Counter Terrorism Command. Prime Minister David Cameron said the UK
would "never buckle" in the face of terror attacks.

Footage has emerged showing a man wielding a bloodied meat cleaver and making political statements.

Police confirmed two men had been arrested in connection with the murder.

There are unconfirmed reports that the dead man was a soldier.

Both French President Francois Hollande and MP Nick Raynsford said the dead man had been a soldier at Woolwich barracks.

The footage shown on the ITV website shows a man, speaking to
the camera, saying: "We must fight them as they fight us. An eye for an
eye, a tooth for a tooth."

He added: "I apologise that women have had to witness this
today, but in our land our women have to see the same. You people will
never be safe. Remove your government, they don't care about you."

The incident took place before many witnesses
I don't care about the politics or religion of the perpetrators. I just wonder how one human being could do this to another

It's easy....the IRA bombed people who happen to wearing British solider uniforms for decades...innocents too...

You mean there are terrorists who aren't -Religious epithets not allowed by Admin-? But Brian Killmeade said....

Too bad there's no concealed carry over there. Maybe someone could've put a swift end to it before the soldier was killed.

I doubt it...it tooks armed cops over 20mins to respond, but the cop station is only 5 mins away....there is a high degree of stabbings there...the video's show people walking by, and not even being fazed...i bet they though it was just another stabbing..

It does tend to have a deterrence effect

The argument that more guns would have helped is particularly ridiculous in this case. The terrorists pretended to be an ordinary driver then went onto the sidewalk and ran into / over him with a car first. This caused serious, perhaps mortal, injury to the victim, before they got out of the car and finished him off with knives.

It was a surprise attack that even if he were armed he would have not been able to stop it.

Fortunately, even in the armed to the teeth USA, amateur gun carriers are reluctant to pull out their guns to protect someone else.

With less gun control, you can bet that both terrorists would have had guns, better guns than the police did. The ensuing shootout with police would have been more dangerous to innocent civilians.
