Hi all:

I am moving to a new city and was setting up cable/internet and comcast did a hard pull on my credit. Is this the norm now for this type of thing? It dropped my credit 8 points and i gotta say I'm pretty annoyed with that. Also, I am looking to get a new CC, and while my score is still ok (685), will that hard pull make it look like im shopping too much for credit? or will the company be able to see that it was a comcast pull and discern? dammit.

They tell you it's a "Soft" and it's clearly a hard. I had 3 pulls last year from them. I was HOT! I sent a letter to the main office a couple months ago and they removed 2/3. They never actually responded though, just removed the inquiries.

exactly, I was pretty pissed lol. In this year, i have increased my score almost 80 points, and to have it hit for freaking 80/month cable and internet service? you gotta be kidding me. I'll try to have them remove it. Wouldnt hurt to try.

Its like EVERYBODY does a HP for EVERY little thing. I was going to get a security system for my home. The monthly monitoring fee was going to be $27.00 per month, no other fees.

They wanted my SS number and wanted to do a hard pull to check my credit.

I said no thanks and have a nice day.

They wanted to pull my credit when I moved but couldn't when they tried (without telling me they were going to, but I suspected as much) because my reports are frozen. They had me go to the local office instead.

I would love to see a new format for hards.

Like format them in categories like cc, loans, mortgage, cable, cell phone ect.

Then fico and whatever scoring model can score them different.

Stupid to score a mortgage pull the same as cable pull. IMHO
