I just got my updates score from Credit.com, and I noticed they changed their scoring system since last month. I know it's not Fico, but do you think it's better or closer to Fico since they're now using the Vantage scores?

Mine updated today too and I was thrown off. So basically they did away with the plus score it looks like, the big score used to be the plus, and then they gave you the vantage and estimated fico. My scores are little better than last month when they used the old system.

To give you a comparison, On Wednesday my EX Fico came in at 640, and today my Credit.com came in at 630 with estimated fico at 680.

7 out or 10 financial institutions and 4 out of 5 mortgage lenders? Someone's pants are on fire.

Not if they chose their 10 financial institutions and 5 mortgage lenders very carefully. :P

Not only that, but we don't know what these alleged institutions are using it FOR! Testing the Vantage model? Scoring the "FICO unscorable"--using rent history, etc. Possibly using/testing it for account management as opposed to initial decisioning? If people who are declined for a CC get a letter with reference to their Vantage Score, well then it will have start to have legs. Not holding my breath for wide-scale adoption anytime soon.

today was the first time that I have ever been on that site and it said I had a 680 and 695 FICO and my wife had a 688 and a 710 fico. You can see in my sig what MPM says so I would say they are not accurate for us. I wish she was over 700 but we are far from that yet.

Also remember, 1 out of 10 dentists DOES NOT recommend sugarless gum for patients who chew gum.

Last week I got a credit update from credit.com saying my score was 677. I applied for credit with GE Capital and got a denial letter stating that my Experian score was 677. So in my case, it was right on.

What CRA are they using to get this score? Mine shows as a 792 and FICO estimated 790 and none of the fako scores even come remotely close to those scores. My USAA is showing 705 (EX), 646 (EQ), 715 (TU) for the same day. I suppose it could be because all my baddies are 5.5-6.5 years old and it's primarily basing it off of the last 24 months?

That is the only thing that I can think of. It seems like people who have excellent credit are getting close scores. All of my baddies are more than 5 years old and I have perfect history for the last 5 and it is scoring me close to 700 when my real fico is 600

Any similarity of a vantage score and FICO is coincidental; they are not intended to match. Vantage scores do not attempt to simulate FICO scores .

Not to mention the fact that Credit.com's "FICO" is a FAKO.

So you are trying compare apples to oranges while using plastic banana as a stand in for the orange.

My credit.com score is 726 and it says my fico estimate is 750. I checked my FICO TU Score (Walmart) and it's 750. Credit Sesame scores me at 749.

I'm not sure of the point you are making. It's great that for you the FAKO scores and estimates trend accurately towards the real thing, but in many cases they don't. Everyone needs to understand that FAKO scores are derived from different scoring systems and in most cases those systems are not even intended to produce a score equivalent to a FICO. CS is the exception to that rule.

Trying to understand why FAKO and FICO don't match is like trying to figure out why a FORD part won't fit in a Toyota; the whole line of inquiry is off because the underlying assumption that they should be equivalent is flawed.

The newer VantageScore model should be further off, statistically speaking, from FICO scores. This is a consequence of being using more granular data and if it is more predicitive. Since most people with low, but not awful, scores will not go 90 days late within 2 years improvements in scoring will raise most scores overall when the scores are normed against a default rate.
