I have two medical collections on my credit report (with the franklin collections) that i would like to remove. I have previously sent a pay for delete request that they never responded to. One has a dofd of 7/2007 and the other dofd is 3/2012. I didn't know of whychats method when i sent the pay for delete. They are both for small amounts 56.00 and 59.00. I have opted out and had old addresses deleted. Transunion and Equifax deleted all. Experian has deleted all but two but they are not tied to these collections. So is my next step to send the pre-hippa dispute letter to the credit bureaus certified mail? Do i send it Certified mail with no signature required? Last question. Is it okay to handwrite it i have read it's okay if you use a yellow legal pad and use blue ink.

Sounds to me like you are on the right track. When you send the pre-hipaa dispute to the CRA's, send it CM ONLY, NO RETURN RECEIPT. From what I understand it is recommended to hand write with a blue ball point pen on yellow legal bad IF your handwriting is legible enough (mine is not...).

Of course, I am not Why Chat so wait until he responds to confirm.

Yes you are doing it correctly. I have advocated handwritten communication to CRAs for over 10 years as this guarantees it is being READ by a "Stateside" human being instead of an off shore customer service computer operator.

Sending it certified only allows you to track it with the certified mail # but doesn't require a signature for receipt. The CRAs are permitted to segregate their mail into "consumer" and "other" sorting systems. Requiring a signature puts your dispute in the same system as letters from CROs ( credit repair organizations) and lawyers and prevents the implementation of the newer FACTA protection rules for consumers.

Wish I came across this yesterday, as I JUST sent all 3 CRAs cmrr for a obsolete dispute. Do you think I should re send the same disputes just CM?
