I received notice of a state tax lien filed in my county against me today for income tax period of 2011. I had a payment arrangement set up with the state and have been paying on time for over a year now. I was one day late paying in April and they filed a lien on 5/15. I immediately got online and paid the entire balance today. What are the chances of this NOT showing up on my CR? I'm hoping that because I paid the entire balance within 3 days of them filing the lien that hopefully it won't be reported. Any experience?

It seems TU and EX are less driven to keep them on and punish you compared to EX. See if you can find the state tax lien listed on the county court's website. Just for your knowledge on how the county is showing it.

If this lien does hit your credit report try to dispute it right away, in writing of course, based on if anything is incorrect. Sometimes, when you dispute within 30 days it seems the chance of it being deleted are higher. Now, I cannot guarantee it will be removed, but this is what I have noticed for a couple friends I've helped with state tax liens. Not every situation is the same.

Now, you will probably have a harder time with removing it from EX because they seem to be hell bent on keeping anything negative on people.

I hope it doesn't report though...

I disputed one from 2008 recently and EX deleted it. I'm having trouble getting a medical judgement removed, I disputed the tax lien as not my account

Shane I'm curious to know if the address connected to your lien was still showing in your Personal section of your EX report? Also, do you have a common name?
