Hi all,

I have a payday loan with cashadvancenow on an old checking account. I closed that account and stopped my direct deposit at that bank and moved to a credit union. I just looked at my online banking and saw there is a pending direct debit from them for the full amount. I have had this account for less than 90 days and, in order to break the cycle of the endless debiting out of my last account, I moved to a credit union(different bank completely, not even a big bank). I haven't given that account and routing number out to any company BUT my employer for direct deposit. My question is: how did they get that info? Can they could do that without my permission?

NO they can't. It is a violation of the EFTA. Consult a consumer attorney NOW about suing them.

Ok. In the meantime, while I start the process of looking for an attorney, should I call them or make some kind of contact and let them know I know it's illegal? Is there a way my bank can maybe put a stop to future debits from them? Because now that they have this info, they will continue to debit my account. I just don't understand how they got that info. I don't even have checks for this account because I refuse to get any because I don't want to mess this up again. I got the new bank to give my employer a letter for direct deposit.

Dispute the charge with your bank immediately as one you did not authorize. There is not supposed to be any electronic debit without your written authorization. Guaranteed regardless of how they go the information they do not have your permission to debit that account.

I just called my bank and they put a stop payment on it and I was told it would be $28 which is fine with me. It will stop future debits from this company.

$28 is way better than what they would have taken! Good luck.
