Currently I have all networks but a mastercard. Currently I am looking at the Sallie Mae MasterCard. The limits works in my range since I am single. Any other suggestions? Really want a mastercard! Credit score is 784 via Walmart TU Thanks

The merits (rewards) of the Sallie Mae card are solid (5% gas, 5% groceries, up to $250 each per month plus 5% on books up to $750/month, plus 1% elsewhere).

I think that stands on its own, and with your score you should have no problem getting one.

For most people's circumstances there is no reason to get a MasterCard, though, simply for the sake of having a MasterCard.

You could get a MasterCard signature, like the CSP little known one. I thik signature sometimes has special offers. And the card looks cool. Plus the $500 signup bonus doesn't hurt.

You're thinking of a World Mastercard. There are versions of it for the Chase Sapphire (and Preferred), the Chase Slate (if you have some debt you need to pay off), the Chase Freedom (solid, if you're okay with category chasing), along with Citi's ThankYou Preferred (and some of the Premier/Prestige cards I believe), which can help get maximum points value if you have a Citi Forward.

Though, the Sallie Mae Mastercard is a very solid choice. If you don't have any other cards filling those 5% gaps... what are you waiting for?

My (Barclays) US Air card is also a World MasterCard. If you hunt around you can find an offer for 35,000 bonus miles with the annual fee waived for the first year. There are 40,000 bonus mile offers out there too, but the only ones I could find had an $89 annual fee in year one.

I went with the Sallie Mae card as well, 5% at amazon rocks. Chase does offer a Mastercard version of many of their cards, you just need to call and apply specifically for it.

:stop: I've spent $600 on Amazon already this week. Now I'm even more bitter that I got snubbed by Sallie when I apped earlier this week. Oh, well, that's 600 American Airlines miles I didn't have before.

Went ahead and applied for the Sallie Mae, Glad I did! Was instantly approved! CL was 5k, this pretty much makes my AMEX BCE useless as long as they keep the 5% gas and grocery since don't think I will be going over the limit. Thanks for the suggestions! Think I got the mastercard Platinum not world though, but did get there lowest apr of 13.99%!
