I have heard of several people here getting a card even tho they IIB Barclays. My BK was 3 years ago, I am an AU on my husbands card and so I figured I would try. Got the 10 day so called for recon.

Rep directly told me that since I IIB it was a no go. I asked him why several other were able to obtain a new account with IIB and he said that their system is not perfect and people sometimes slip through the cracks. Whatever....

So he says we can't approve you "At this time". My reply to that was.. don't you mean we can't approve you EVER because of the IIB?

He says, "Well I can't really say that because I have no idea what the future holds." WTF???

I guess the purpose of this post is if you IIB them it's a crapshoot on if you will slip through their 'Imperfect" system or not.

If you feel like you can afford to burn an inquiry and your stars are all aligned correctly, then you may want to try.

Screw them, I'm done- this was my third try and the only one I called in for recon. Wish I had done that earlier, I would have saved 2 inquiries.

They might be great for some, I have 500 k in prime available credit , no Bk, nothing bad on my report , score is close to 800.

Can't get approved for anything from them.

Their latest excuse was too much available .

Don't feel so bad .

I don't understand why you are so upset about this. I am sure you understood that applying for a card from a lender that you caused to take a loss was not a guaranteed approval. You can't use someone else's approval to make a case for why you should get it, or everyone would be approved. I have no experience with this, but other posts indicate that some people slip through with other issuers too. Would you be saying screw them if they had approved you?

last year my DW was approved for Carnival MC, 2.5 years post BK. She did not IIB Barclay.

I IIB'd Barclay's on an Apple Itunes card. They won't approve me for anything now.

I just applied for and got an instant approval for the Barclaycard Travelocity Amex with a $2500 CL. I IIB'd two of their cards, the Carnival Mastercard and the Barclaycard iTunes Visa.

Even more startling than the approval was signing into the online account to see my new Travelocity card and seeing that the Carnival and iTunes cards are very much still on Barclay's mind....

I sent electronic messages on each of the cards asking that they remove the card from my online profile, and I received very computer generated looking responses for each referring me to the respective collection agencies. Both report as IIB on my credit reports. I sent a new message with a little more clarification, so let's see how that goes....

Yea Barclays is really wierd... they denied me for like 2.5 years after my BK saying the same thing...they just kept telling me I needed more time. Finally, they did approve me for an LL Bean Visa. However, they refused to give me a limit increase on it saying that my available credit was sufficient... so, I haven't used the card since. I believe I've had over a year of inactivity on the card and the damn thing is still open.... :)

Funny... my Carnival card that was IIB was the exact reason I given for the no go. I didn't bk anywhere near that amount you did on it tho. I think it was maybe 2 grand.

Well congrats to you for "slipping through the cracks in their imperfect system." =)

It might be a good idea to delete this image. Or at least redact the numbers.

I had the same thing. Bk two account back in 2009. Approved for rewards card. When I log in, see all three accounts. Very annoying.

No offense DPDIY, but why are you complaining? I actually commend Barclays in this instance. At least they had the decency to tell you the real reason you were declined. They could have given you some contrived answer and not been honest about you being blacklisted. Can you blame them? They gave you a chance once, and you burned them. They're not going to let that happen again, at least not intentionally. I'm sure there are plenty of other banks who want your business...Barclays isn't one of them. Their blacklist is not going to be perfect, and I think you're blowing it out of proportion. They deal with a lot of customers, and it makes sense that some people who should have been declined will end up getting approved. However, they've basically told you that they won't let that happen if they can avoid it. Read about any blacklists on this board, and you'll see that they are not perfect. I don't understand your rant at all.
